Long time lurker- just joined today.
Currently, I have a 1999 4Runner that I've had for almost 2 years. I absolutely love it and it hasn't given me any major problems. It has a little over 101,000 miles and still runs like a top.
I'm starting to see a little bit of rust creep up on my back bumper and trailer hitch, plus it will probably need some new brakes and a wheel bearing or something in the front end to stop a growl for inspection in a couple of months and the sunroof lets some water in from time to time.
I have a bad habit of spending too much time on Cars.com and Autotrader (hence the purchase of my Scion tC). Found what appears to be a cherry '04 4Runner Sport 4WD V6 with 35,000 miles not too far away from me. It looks good in the pics, but I have yet to see it up closed (drove to the dealer today, but it wasn't on the lot- so either it sold or the owner had it with him).

I can't seem to get this one out of my mind; it's what I want if I decide to upgrade (except for the lack of V8), but I have some reservations.
I've been reading up on the 04s this afternoon/evening and am a little put off by the head gasket issues that have been cropping up on the V6s. I really would like something that would last me a good 5 or 6 years without question.
What sort of input can you give me? I'm going to call about it tomorrow to see if I can at least look/drive it. Carfax will be a given; possibly taking it to a mechanic to check it over (there's a local Toyota dealer not far from this small dealership).

for around $23,000. Thinking I'll take a drive to check it out (assuming it doesn't sell before I get a chance to go down...)
