Panasonic OEM Battery

My battery is now failing in the colder weather days for the first time in my 2001 SR5 .Sorry to see it going as it has been great from day one in August 2001.I will never see a battery such as this again.

Mine finally started to fail and I had to replace it last weekend.
Those are the best batteries in the world, wish they were available as replacements

The most irrelevant statements on this thread are current mileage. Mileage has nothing to do with a batteries longevity. You battery doesn't care if you have 50 miles or 5,000,000. The job your battery does is start your car. Once it does that, it's job is done.

The main factor that contributes to your batteries demise is extreme temperature swings. Replacement batteries are actually made differently based on where they are sold. They make a northern battery that is designed for northern cold temps and a southern battery made for hot temps. The next time it gets bitterly cold or super hot, stop by your local parts store and look at their near empty battery rack.

I agree with you, but I didn't put my mileage as an indicator of how long I think my battery can and will last. As anyone who lives in northern Utah (or any northern states) can attest, we see temperature swings all through the fall, winter, and spring months. What's the point of assuming that because people post their mileage they don't understand how a battery works?

04 original Panasonic showed first sign of issue today. I was testing my latest carpc build for about 30mins and after that it just clicked. Indicator still lights up blue and fluid levels look good. I'll put the charger on it and then maybe run a few recondition cycles to de-sulfate it and see how it goes.

Sorry, wasn't trying to sound bashing. Just pointing out that stating milage is irrelevant in this discusion. I just thought it was funny that people stated their mileage along with their year as if it meant something. It adds as much value as stating the color or the octane you use.

Wow 8 years. You are lucky. I replace my battery in my autos every 5 years. Suggestion from a good fiend and mechanic.

100K now - on my 4th battery
original Panasonic lasted 80K / 4 years

after two short lived crappy dealer replacements I bought one at Napa Jan, 2010
fingers crossed

i had to replace mine two months ago at 145k miles, did a 30 min drive to walmart, was in there for one hour came out and tryed to start but nothing but clicks

'04 V8 Sport - purchased October 2003. Still on the original battery. It's garaged every night - I don't know if that helps shield the battery from temperature swings. I haven't seen the blue "good battery" ring in a couple of years however. I'll check the water level tomorrow.

Funny I saw this post and had to go to Autozone anyway to wiperblades so had them check my original 2004 battery and the meter said it is still going strong. Going to rock it till it dies I guess.
