2004 4runner towing capability

I have a 2004 4runner 2wd v6 and I currently tow a 18 foot sea ray. I am looking at upgrading to a new boat, but I'm concerned about the towing ratio! The new boat is a 2004 malibu wakesetter VLX, which I believe weighs about 3000 pounds. Any thoughts on this????

the towing capacity on the V6 is rated at 5000 pounds. but if you search the forum you will probably see many people who have towed this much or more from their V6's.

you should be fine if it weights 3k pounds. just tow in 4 instead of D. also you don't mention how many miles you have - make sure all your maintenance is up to date, especially transmission and differential fluids.

that's a nice boat btw - i used to teach people to ski with a malibu sunsetter during summer while i was in college. that boat had a chevy 454 in it - crazy power at the time.
