2004 4Runner V6

Has anyone heard about any complaints of ticking (valve noise) on the 04 V6? I have only heard complaints about the 03 V6 . Just wondered if Toyota fixed the problem with 04 and not going to do nothing about 03 V6.

I doubt that there will be a quick fix. I believe the noise is from the valvetrain.

My '04 V6 sounds fine...

My guess is that they fixed the problem on the '04 (and later '03s).

In another forum a member just had his '03 V6 deemed a lemon because of the engine noise. TOYUSA bought his Runner back.

This thread is misleading on the sound.
The one owner that got his V6 bought back by Toyota- his engine sounded like someone was hitting it with a hammer at idle! It was LOUD!

I have no problems with engine noise, it is whisper quiet inside. You can do a search on yotatech.com because there has been tons written about it by that one owner, MISH, and his buy-back. I have not known of any other V6's with that problem.
