2004 4WD Low

Hi everyone...I am a new user of this board. I am looking for answers to my 4Runner problem. I purchased a 2004 last fall, and love it, but when I try to engage 4WD Low, it just beeps and blinks and will not engage. 4WD Hi seems to work fine. Any suggestions?

I am going to assume it's a V6, if not skip step one.
1) Select 4hi while driving. Wait until it's in 4hi (lights are steady state, no flashing)
2) Stop. Put the transmission N and select 4lo. Wait for steady 4lo indication. Sometimes releasing the brake and letting it creep ahead or backwards helps. If you let it roll fast, above 3-5mph, it'll just beep.

Chris is correct. You are most likely just doing it wrong. Follow those steps and you shouldn't have any issues.

Thanks for the replies. I will try that tomorrow. We may even have some snow to try it out with by morning I am so glad I found this board. I have one other simple question. How do I turn off the tire pressure light? I'm sure it is simple.

Make sure all of the tires are at the correct tire pressure. The sensor goes off when one of them is at around 27-28 psi or lower. Needs to be kept higher, around 32. Check your 4 main ones, but also don't forget to check your spare. It's often times caused by the spare since it is "out off sight, out of mind."

It should go off if the tire pressure is correct.

I have found that certain vehicles don't shut it off right away, you may have to drive a few miles (1-3 or less). The T4R may shutoff the warning right away.

On the spare I always go for the max inflation listed on the sidewall. It's just that it's easy to forget when you do the rest of the tires and it's easy to let a little air out if needed...
