2004 Forerunner dashboard lights

I have a 2004 Forerunner. I have to be able to turn off the dashboard lights when I am parked and the headlights are off. Does anybody know how to do this.

There's a dial on the dash that lets you dim the dash lights. I don't remember if they go completely off or not, but they'll definitely go VERY dim if not completely off.

Or does that only work with the headlights on?

The dial on my 2006 will dim the lights completely. Not sure if it's the same for the 2004, as the instrument cluster was changed slightly for 2006+.

Speaking of dashboard light...has anyone had to replace the light for the clock/mpg/range/avg mph display. For somereason mine went out, I'm assuming it's a tiny light behind the entire unit that won't be any easy fix...not the fuse....any help would be appreciated...

It's not the fuse, it's the bulbs that need replaced. Its super easy but you'll have to order the bulbs from your dealership. All the info you need is here:
