2004 Sport V8 FS. Good deal or not?

Looking at a 150,000 miles, drives very well, clean vehicle history 2-owner 4Runner. They are asking $8000. Seems perfect mechanically and pretty decent cosmetically. 4 matching newer tires. A few minor dings and scratches and the interior needs a good cleaning but is in good condition. No rust. Looks good and with very little cost and time could be made to look much better.

I don't really see anything that compares in price looking nationwide for comparison. Seems like a good deal. We are looking for something for a soon-to-be 16 year old.

Any thoughts, advice?

Yes, that is a good deal. Make sure the timing belt has been done.

Do all the Sports have XREAS? That is; if they haven't been swapped out by the P.O.?

bought mine at $5800, was asking $7290 in march or 2013 with 164k. Great haggling skills, plus i can a report on toyota .com and found the PO declined a $2000 service to repair the AC. thanks to this forum, i found out that the ac relay was plugged into the foglight socket, priceless!

WARNING:
I dropped $1425 on replacing both manifolds, all the sensors, MAF, all the rotors and pads, including parking brake, springs/shocks and timing belt/wp service. All to the tune of $3500. Now my truck is lifted 4.5" with the stuff in my sig and i expect it will last another 100k with no major issues.

Plan on replacing/upgrading stuff. You have a perfect vehicle for that. High mileage, worn out stock stuff...perfect just perfect....just negotiate a little harder. Like what i did, oh its a V8, gas is expensive. I dont know, my wife wants a v6..blah blah...play it down like its not the one you want, also especially the timing belt service, thats a $1200 job at the dealership..you can get away with aftermarket parts for $500 ish.

Make sure timing belt has been done, that's the major one for these V8's. I have 140k on my V8 and still the best engine/car I've ever owned.

Picked up the 4runner yesterday with new windshield installed by seller. He also serviced the vehicle which amounted to only an oil change and inspection. The tailgate latch was broken and he fixed that as well which he claims amounted to about $300 in labor and genuine Toyota parts he had over-nighted in order to have it ready for us.
On the return trip home it ran flawlessly. 1/4 tank of gas in 120 miles. According to the dash display 20.6 mpg and according to my calculator 19.3 mpg.
I am looking forward to some warmer weather so I can begin working on cleaning it up and addressing minor cosmetic issues. First thing though I will take it to my mechanic for a new timing belt and full inspection.
Can anyone tell me if the fan and temperature control dials are normally lit up? Can't see them at night. the far right dial of the 3 is lit.
