2004 XenonDepot 4300K Installed - 9006 Kit

I finally installed my XenonDepot.com 4300K 9006 HID kit today. The kit has changed since others have provided us this the photos of the kit. The install overall was painless. However, I had a few issues which I have taken-up with XenonDepot.

All of these photos were taken from inside my garage with my camera set on the hood. So, while the 4Runner may be over a bit in the HID photos the distance to the fence across tha alley is identical.

The 4Runner had to be moved over in the garage to make room for my motorcycle, so the view is over about 8 feet. But you can still get the idea of how the new HIDs work.

Here is the HID and Lightforce. As you can figure, the Lightforce can never be used in traffic. I use them to push cars out of the fast lane in the day, and for off-roading.

score..i was looking upgrading to HIDs but i generally dont trust kits unless i know the manufacturers. How was Xenon depots kit? When hids4less.com went out of business, they were one of the other spots that I looked to for D2S bulbs for my BMWs.

Seem like superior quality parts within the kit. $400.

If you get their kit, make sure you have the other things you will need in your garage. I had to modify the power supply and ground wires to fit the 4Runner. I will still redo it again after I determine that the kit will take the use I will put it to. To reinstall the original lights would take but a couple minutes. So, I will keep the halogen bulbs in the 4Runner. Just in case.

Yup, looks like the same output I got with the same kit. What issues did you have? What did you have to modify to work with the 4Runner? My kit was plug in play? The ground and power went on the battery terminals without modification...

I want the fuses against the engine bay sidewall. I extended the 2" ground leads to a longer lead which I connected to the common battery sidewall ground connection. I wanted a high quality copper positive connection, extended to the fuses.

I'll tell y'all, the Painless power connections included with the Lightforce kit are the best I've seen. They spoiled me.

The rest of the kit supplied by XenonDepot is excellent. The change to the kit appears to be the separate headlight wires of equal length. So, there are now two positive and two negative leads to connect. There is also a formed sheet metal retention plate for the ballast. There must have been an issue with the plug coming undone. I used my own bolts to affix this plate to the ballast as only sheet metal screws were included. There was a small instruction sheet, with photos, showing how to use the retention plate.

The installation instructions were missing from my kit. Maybe this was an oversight on their part, as their reply email didn't say.

I installed the bulbs inserting them with a lot of pressure into the 9006 housing, then twisted them until the support wire was at the bottom of the bulb.

So, would you recommend this to other 03-05 owners with reflector headlights? How do you like it when you are driving? Is it much better?

I've got the XenonDepot kit in my Camry. The ballasts are the slim Philips. The capsules are also Philips, but I can't tell because they're rebased and I can see the text. They do have the characteristics of a Philips capsule. Philips is highly regarded as the best HID component manufacturere.

The XenonDepot kit is $380 for the 4300k and $440 for the 6000k. Shipping is pricey at $25, but they're coming from Canada. They don't offer discounted shipping either, 2 kits will be $50 for shipping, thus I didn't get the H11 kit when I got the 9006.

Wow, I've encounted the exact same problems you had for my Camry.

I was also missing the instruction sheet, which Steve emailed me. My 9006 capsule for the passenger side headlight took a lot of force to put in and the return wire was hitting the shield. I tried my best to get the wire at the 6 o'clock position, but it's still a bit off by about 22.5 degrees.
