2005 4Runner alarm help

I bought a 2005 4Runner that came with an alarm system from the dealer. When I arm and disarm the system I get beeps AND horn honks...
arm - one beep AND one horn honk
disarm - two beeps AND two horn honks

How can I turn off the horn honks but leave the beeps during arm and disarm? I want the system fully functional otherwise.

None of my original manuals describe alarm settings.

The dealer service guy tells me that they would have to hook up a computer to change that setting but no guarantees. Whether or not the settings can be changed via the computer it will cost $80 once they hook up the computer.

Any suggestions?

the horn honks can be turned off, i did the same thing to my dealer installed alarm, i forgot how to but i'll look it up later, btw what kind do you have? RS3200?

How would I be able to tell what model alarm system I have?

The alarm user manual was a small 5 page pamplet with no company name, logo, model number, etc.

may be a silly question

Is it a Toyota factory alarm or an aftermarket one installed by the dealer? Are you using the factory fob (remote) to arm the alarm or do you have another remote? If its not the factory key fob then you probably have an aftermarket alarm that would be require programing specific to the alarm.

I bought the car brand new from the Toyota dealer with the alarm pre-installed. I am using the Toyota factory fob to arm and disarm FCC ID: HYQ12BBX. But the dealer guys told me that since I purchased the car in a Gulf Coast region, the Toyota dealers can installed any one of three different alarm systems.

Am I just getting the run around from the dealer guys?

I agree with jimsi, i have an aftermarket one made by audiovox the name's pursuit but it's an add on so i still use my original/stock toyota remote, if you have a different remote, you definitely have an aftermarket one...

oh.. it seems like you have an add on alarm, i'm just not sure what you have, i'm assuming that it's the RS, it's just weird that it doesn't say on the little booklet you have what kind it is...
