This is my first post as a new member. I have searched and read for several hours on my subject, but, wanted to solicit the group directly about my Sirius installation.
I own a late model 2005 4Runner Limited V8, in order to get navigation system with rear seat audio. The navigation system I feel is better than my Dodge RAM, Mercedes and BMW units I also have. Touchscreen and ease of use wins hands down on any others mentioned.
My wife is driving me nuts wanting Sirius like the other autos, and I thought I was forced, and still may be, to adding an external unit via a "fm" modulator like from Best Buy and their technicians installing it.
Then I was searching the internet via google and found your informative newsgroup and read of a recently new factory system that might interface with my jbl e7005 system. The Toyota dealer I bought the auto from is NO help at all saying nothing else can be interfaced to this great Navigation system.
While I have looked through everything I can read, most if not all installs are on 2006 or later vehicles.
My e7005 does not have an AM/SAT button, AM only, nor does it offer an CD/AUX button either. It comes standard with a single DVD, single CD player, backup camera and the Rear Seat Audio system with remote from the factory.
So here is my question ... I know, finally ... can I install the current factory Sirius receiver kit, and say the 4Runner install kit and will it work on the AM button like others who have installed successfully on either an e7005 or later Navigation Systems? Remeber, I only have the e7005. An older version but very capable unit I think?
I would truly score some nice brownie points with the wife since her girlfriend has a new "Lexus" brand 4Runner and she has Sirius on hers ... they look almost the same!
