2005 4Runner LTD Factory Stereo replacement options

Do you know what Scion factory stereos or any Toyota factory stereos would fit in my 2005 4Runner LTD V6? I currently have the 6 in-dash JBL factory stereo but it won't play my cd's and flashes Error-1. I think the laser is shot. Just thought I'd ask. Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!!!

Search is your friend here! There is a ton of this info in the Audio & Electronics section of this forum. The Scions are a great upgrade to any standard factory 4runner stereo, and they're easy to install (plug-n-play on the 4th gen). The problem is that you have the JBL system, so I'm not sure it will be so easy for you, as the wiring harness and speakers are different.

Let me get you started:

Scion T1807 install in 3rd gen '99 Limited (pic heavy) (My T1807 install thread)
Scion HU (huge thread with TONS of info)
2006 Scion iPod HU Cable (another long thread with TONS of info)
Scion Head Units (outlines differences in Scion HU models)
Scion HU Install

I recall someone posting recently that had a JBL system, and I thought he changed his out to the Scion, but I can't find that thread.

While the factory stereo units are good if you can get a good deal, you can get a lot more features for your money with an aftermarket unit. A great place to look is Crutchfield - they give you complete installation instructions as well as the little parts you need to make it work, like the wiring harness that you can plug into the factory harness behind the dash. You don't have to cut into the factory wires at all.

If you want to stay OEM, this place can probably help you out.
