2005 4Runner Transmission Delay

Hi, I am having problems with my 2005 4Runner. SOMTIMES when I go from reverse to drive the transmission will take up 6 seconds for the transmission to engage. I visited the dealer 3 times and the keep putting on the "computer" but every test results as "normal operation". They even road tested it for 2 days but nothing. The factory rep. always repeats it's the "charecter" of the car.
Anyone that is having similar problems or have heard of this please post or email me.

Thanks in advance everyone!

That's not normal... I've never had a Toyota product behave like that. I can't believe someone at Toyota corporate thinks that's acceptable! I'd start over at another dealer.

It could be either an electrical problem or a fluid problem. Hopefully it's a computer problem, because that doesn't involve the internals of the trans. If the computer is fine, telling the trans to shift, but the trans isn't shifting, then it could be a fluid / hydraulic problem. It could also be some sort of sensor problem - something is delayed in telling the computer to tell the trans to shift.

If you've got a trans fluid dipstick (my 06 V8 does NOT), then check it to eliminate the obvious and make sure you've got the right amount of fluid.
