2005 4Runners Are Here!!!

I was just checking out the Toyota website because I had nothing to do. Well, to my surprise, the information for the 2005 4Runners was released. The thing that sticks out is the V8 is 270hp. :D Enjoy!!

are the front and rear bumper covers body colored now instead of silver? It kinda looks like it from the front in some of the pictures. I didn't see any shots from the rear though.

Looking at the "Models and Prices" sections, the Sport Edition still has the silver bumper "accents" and the SR5 and Limited models get color-keyed ones. Interesting. The SR5 also gets a chrome grille. The Limited no longer has the silver roof rack and running boards, which are now black, but are still illuminated. The Sport still has the silver roof rack. :confused:

At least my SR5 looks more like a Limited now...

thats why I waited, More Hp, more Torque, and more MPG. damn Looks as if my new 05 V8 will be put on order next week,,,,

I was behind a black SR5 last night, and the back bumper was ALL black, with no silver accent, so I guess it was an '05 :cool:
 
time to upgrade to the '05 look I guess. I never liked the silver accent pieces or the silver roof rack. I wish I had the new v8 though.

That is exactly I am confused...Look like V8 is the better choice if you can afford around $1500 more.

another point, It Looks like If I choose V8 4WD Full-time model,

I cannot switch to 2WD as desired just like V6 4WD multi-mode model.

If V8 4WD can do just like V6 4WD, then V8 is #1 choice.
 
Another major upgrade is the v6 now has the 5 speed transmission. I bet acceleration times of both will be better. I wish they posted more pictures of the 05's on Toyotas website. I want to see what the SR5 looks like with a chrome grille.

That is the way it is on the '04s - the V8 4WD models cannot be put into 2WD mode unlike the V6 models.

no no...at first I saw the same thing, but when you look closer, it says: (V6; V8) 18/21; TBD

TBD= To Be Determined... then there's a footnote on the V8 listing that says: V8 Available January 2005. Mileage TBD.

So...we wait... ;): I'm eager to see what they say, but I'm happy w/ my 04. :)

With the trans 'upgrade', will the V6 still have PT 4wd or is now only AWD like the V8?

It still says that the V6 4WD will have a Multi-Mode system with a limited slip center differential that could be locked. I guess then you will still have 2WD, 4Hi, and 4Lo.

V6 will still have the multi-mode.

The V8 has AWD for the simple reason that the V8 puts out so much torque that in 2WD you'd always be breaking the rear-end loose when accelerating from a stop or a corner, and the traction control system would be constantly engaging.

eh...I wouldn't say that's exactly the reason. I used to own a 03 4x2 v8...yeah it had a lot of torque...yeah it pulled great...and yeah, I spun the back tires, but only when I pressed it. I'd say the 4x4 v8 is always in 4wd as it has the torque to do it all the time...slight difference in wording there. :D
 
Who was that guy who swore up and down that there was not going to be a V8. He said we were all crazy! I bet he's hiding under a chair.
