2005 incentives at year end

What has Toyota done for incentives for prior model year ending promotions? I notice now the V6 has a 3.9 for 60 months or $500 cash back that ends on 7/5/05.

Am I better buying one now or waiting until after 7/5 to see what the final incentives will be before the 2006s start showing up?

Very good question! Have you thought about buying a new 2006 rather than buy a depreciated 2005 model? What are the tradeoffs?:)

I faced those same issues in November of 2004. After crunching the numbers I chose my 2004 model. When I took into account the year-end mark down and Toyota cash back totaling about $4000 it was a no brainer for me. Getting my '04 for under both it's invoice price and it's book value worked for me.

Given the potential price increases this fall, I have to wonder if year-end deals like mine last year will be offered again this year.
One has to wonder if Toyota might just cut back on production of some of their SUVs (due to gas prices, etc.) towards the end of the year to avoid clearence sales. Time will tell.

That's interesting, I guess rebates vary by location. The V6's have a $1000 rebate right now and the V8's have a $1500 rebate. Not too bad if you ask me. :)

I bought my 04 v6 4wd over the 4th of July weekend last year and they had $1000 matching cash from Toyota plus 1.9% for 60 months. However, since I am looking for a new one now I have not seen this good of an offer lately. Maybe as the 06's get ready to roll they will increase their incentives but I doubt it.

I think they will increase incentives.

I bought my 03 in mid aug 03, and got $4200 off msrp.

Toyota has already announced price increases for 2006. I think they were around 1.5-2%.

If the truck were staying the same(as in my case(tire pressure sensors)), i'd get the 05 in a heartbeat.
I just wonder what changes they have lined up to compete with the xterra and pathfinder. Surely it won't stay at 240hp for the v6...

It really depends where you are since I purchased mine in April with 0% financing in GA. They also had $1000 off but I chose the 0% as you couldn't combine them both. Now though they're back to the 3.9% but with the $1500 off as on alternative.

Just a thought, before you decide if you want to buy a year-end '05 model vs a new '06 model, have you considered how long you decide to keep the 4R? I hear others talk about the added depreciation of getting a year-end model, but if you plan on keeping it for over 8-10 years, the depreciation differential would be relatively insignificant compared to the amount of the discount on an '05 model. Now, last year's '04 V8 vs. '05 V8 (and V6 4spd vs 5spd tranny) is a different situation :D

Heard from a dealer today Toyota is no longer building the V6. It's only one source, though.

That's big news if it's true but it would be an odd decision given current gas prices.

I got mine in May with $3000 discount + $4000 tax back from trade-in + $1000 mail-in rebate = $8000.

Regarding 2006 - there is thread about it here: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?threadid=11491&perpage=15&pagenumber=1
Major changes are: headlights, taillights, grille, front and rear bumper, fenders.

incentives...

I bought my 05 V8 limited in Feb.. what I was really interested in was cheap financing! With TMC~ I got .0015% financing.... now applied over 36 months you're talking serious money. Yea, I also got a 1500 rebate and bought my truck at 500 over dealer cost. No.. that didn't include any dealer holdbacks, but they gotta make some money too!

Bottom line is look for CHEAP financing more than rebates... combining both however can save you a bunch of money. Only TMC can offer wild deals like I got on money.... If you have a sterling credit rating TMC will jump through hoops to get your business......

BTW.. my 05 is one of the best vehicles that I've ever owned over the years.

good luck and good hunting...
