2005 Limited V8 pics

Here's some pics of the new 4Runner. Not a whole lot's changed since 2003, but there are a few differences. Since these pics were taken, I added a faint pinstripe down the side and some clear 3M protection film behind the rear mudflaps....hopefully get pictures of that stuff tommorow. Usually not a fan of stripes at all, but the stripe guy was at work and convinced me to try one. Turned out pretty cool tho, and I wanted something to break up the silver a bit, as I find it a bit more mundane than the old black w/silver accents.

I'll also post some driving impressions later on also, but for the most part it's quite familiar.

Black boards and roof rack, instead of the silver one's on previous years. Undecided if this is an improvment, a dissapointment, or if it matters at all :D

New motor, black intake runners and VVT-I badging are the only differences that come to mind, maybe someone else can see more.

Rear spoiler is bigger/bulkier than previous years, with a much larger "scoop" to divert air downwards....not sure why.

More goodies than the 03 came with: 2 wireless headphones for rear seat audio, reciever hitch, and a 4-pin adaptor for trailer lights. Also, this one has the Michelin Cross Terrain tires, which should be better than the old drag radial Dunlops :D

This was a very fresh one, with only 2 kms on it when it rolled off the truck; 6 by the time it went through PDI and down to the cleanup shop.

For accessories, just a set of Toyota all-season mats for now. Also, I undercoated it and did a full detail with a nice thick coat of this kickass new wax/paint sealant we found. Too bad it's going straight in the snow/slush/salt :o Oh well, that's what it's for right?

Truck looks good!! Glad to see you got the '05. Does anybody know why toyota did the running boards and roof rack black for this year?

No idea why they would change it.. but in my opinion.. they look ugly. The silver accents look really good!

Things I don't like about the 05

- non painted roof racks, running boards, and accents.
- bulging spoiler

Things I like about the 05

- 270 horses

The HP wouldn't make me the exterior changes enough to get a new one. If I was to buy one now.. I'd still buy an 03 or an 04.

but still.. the t4r... :goinposta kinda car. :D

the horses are nice, but im waiting for toyota to make some bigger changes to the appearance before i start oohing and ahhing over new model years.

the differences between 3rd gen model years are subtle but actually many.

im actually interested in seeing what the 5th gen will look like!

nice silver color though, i love the 4th genners, i really do.

I'm excited for you and your new V8. I think I read in another thread that the bulge keeps that back window clearer by blowing off water, but I could easily be wrong. I personally don't like the black boards and racks on the titanium, maybe on black, but I definitely don't like them on titanium. Oh well, if it ends up bothering you, you can probably find someone that has the opposite opinion and trade them. I'm anxious to hear about the performance that a lot of us are jealous of.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the new spoiler. Realistically, that's about all it could do anyways.

Ya I'm not 100% excited about the black boards/rack. BUT 99% of the other vehicles out there have a black racks, so at least it's non-offensive. As for driving, I don't want to wind it all the way out until there's a few more kms on it, but I can tell you it's got a little rappier exhaust note to it, and the bottom/mid range feels even stronger than my 03 V8 did.

Sweeeeet! Your 03 didn't come with all that stuff??

Nope, it had the hidden hitch w/wiring, and rear seat audio system.....but not the headphones, reciever and 4pin adaptor.

Of course, now I've got doubles of the trailering stuff because I'd already bought it :o

You are a BASTARD !!!!!!!!!!!

I want one now too :D

I think it is sometimes wise to wait till a new generation is out for 2 years or so. All the bugs are sorted out by then (most of the time). You get the extra goodies (like more power) and it doesn't get hit by depreciation as early as when you buy a model just before a new generation.

Ohhhh, just thought of it, time to get my GF a new car. Good excuse to at least get one 05 in the garage. I just can't get myself to trade in my 03.

To be honest I think all of it will be sweet, apart from the black roofrack and running boards, dont know what they were thinking there. Can't wait to see if they will test one of these in a major mag, so we can actually see how much the improvement is in perfromance. I think the new V8 will spank, let us know how well it pulls above 4500 rpm. Or should I say the "lazy zone" of the current V8.
