2005 Navi Unit Question - Please Help

Hi, I have an 05 4runner with the JBL 10 speaker, single disc stereo unit with rear seat audio. I'm thinking of upgrading to a Navi unit with either sirius or xm sat. radio capabilities and maybe dvd option. Any recommendations based on your experiences and equipment. I'm not sure what brands are good and what fits my 4runner.

I decided to go with the factory navigation system (about $1700 from OEMValue.com) for my 4Runner. It's a pretty simple installation and allows the audio controls on the steering wheel to function.

I'm considering adding XM (or possible Sirius) over the winter, but I can't make up my mind which way to go...

Sure you can... you just have to order the correct navigation system.

That's right... just ask for the Solara navigation system.

The only thing you might want to ask about is the speaker for the turn-by-turn voice guidance. If I'm not mistaken, you might have to use a separate speaker.....unless the newer models use the stereo speakers.

Other than that, it should work exactly the same.

Questions about the Solara Nav....

I just picked up a 2006 4runner, but thanks to the bait-and-switch pulled by the dealer I also have the 10 speaker JBL system. I have a few questions about the Solara nav, and I'm not getting any responses from oemvalue.com.

1. There is an aux. audio input in the console of the 2006 4runners. Does anyone know if this will connect to the 2006 Solara nav units?

2. Does the Solara nav unit send audio to all 10 speakers? The Solara does not have a center speaker up front, so I wasn't sure if you would get true surround.

3. According to oemvalue.com, you still need to use an external speaker with the solar nav to get voice commands. Has anyone posted pictures of an external speaker and maybe a voice command mic installed in a 4runner?
