2005 sr5 steering wheel controls = jbl sound?

Hey everyone...

I'm a newb both to this forum and 4runners. I am thinking about finally trading in my 10 year old Cherokee for a 4 runner tomorrow, but I have one quick question...

I am looking at 2005 sr5, and I am trying to see if I am getting a good deal by running a Blue Book value on it. The description states that it has steering wheel sound controls. Does that signify that it has the JBL premium sound package as well, or can you have the steering wheel controls without the sound package?

Hey Sean! Welcome! If you get the 4R you'll love it! I just bought a new one a few months ago - definitely my favorite car.

Regarding your question, I do not believe they are related. I think the JBL is completely separate from the steering controls.

BUT, I could be wrong. Sorry I cant give you a more definitive answer! Hope the deal works out! Keep us posted and if you get it - WE NEED PICTURES!

I have an 08 SR5 with the standard radio. It has the steering wheel contols. I think the standard radio also sound good. Good enough for me anyway.

Hey whatsup?! I dont really know if its JBL or not, but it is loud. I did change out my whole audio system. New Speakers front and back, new tweeters and new head unit.... now its even louder =)

Getting back to the subject at hand

the steering wheel controls are great for the stock system. The system is pretty loud .
