2005 V8 4th Gen holding gears

Its been getting worse lately, but I wanted to get some opinions. She seems to be holding gears into the higher revs for longer than it used to. Also, if im going around 35-45 and approaching a red light and I let off the gas the engine is braking like its a gear lower than it should be. Torque converter not letting go maybe? Throw me your ideas, please and thanks!

I'm curious to know, too. Mine tends to hold 1st a bit longer than it should, like it's trying to anticipate if I'm gonna floor it or let off the gas. It's almost like it's between gears or something, yet it isn't. It's probably something I'm overly paranoid about, I really only notice it when it's not been running long. Odds are that's all it is and I'm just cluttering your thread...
 
Knowing if you've changed tranny fluid recently or at all might help us give some insight. That and miles on your trucks.

I changed tranny fluid (well, drain and fill w/ filter replacement) about 18,000 miles ago with Toyota WS (can't remember how many quarts) and set to proper level. Shifts were becoming more noticeable but nothing bad at all. Planning to do another drain and fill soon. I'm at 223K miles now.
I don't think my issue with "holding gears" is of significant concern--I attribute it to just not being completely warmed up yet--but I was curious to know what others thought so I could soak up any information other members had.

Edit: Prior to my taking ownership tranny fluid was changed (via flush if I remember the receipt correctly) at approximately 120K

Hill sensor works uphill as well as downhill also, didn't know that. So if you're in 'D' going uphill, it downshifts to 4th, the hill sensor holds you in 4th to a certain degree then allows the upshift?

I've noticed a few times the 2007 holds 4th after cresting a grade, trans in 'D'. Didn't do that all the time. Still was sluggish to upshift to 5th two times out of maybe eight ascents after a full 16 qt dealer trans flush at 112k miles.

I was paying attention to that since that was one of the reasons I did a dealer flush. All the other upshifts/downshifts worked fine after the flush in D, manually upshifting/downshifting.

Where is that sensor located?
 
Actually I was joking about a 'sensor' - it may well be a derived signal the computer puts out due to knowing engine load, recent torque history, etc.

Someone smarter will chime in I hope.
 
I havent changed the tranny fluid, I'm at 140 so I should probably do that. As far as the hill sensor goes, that could also be an issue. When I'm in CC, the car is way too quick to drop a gear. I'll be pulling fine up a hill in 4th but itll drop one MPH and slam into 3rd and blow way past where i set the speed. Then, shift back up, slows down, and repeats...
 
Toyota dealer said they do not suggest tranny fluid replacement...Tried the system initialize this afternoon. Didnt seem to solve my problem, i have to drop the stick into 4th and then hold it there for a bit, then slap it back into D and it will shift up to 5th.

What was their reasoning behind that? I imagine the vehicle is close to 100k?
