2005 Wheels on a 2000 4Runner???

There's a few guys who have them...not sure of the difference in backspacing, but they will fit
:iagree: w/ LINY4Runner ... all 4th Generation wheels fit on 3rd Generation.
I can post pictures if you want...just need to find them.

they will fit, but you need to get some 2" HUB CENTRIC wheelspacers, or they will make the tires rub on the control arms, not to mention look really strange being set so far in.

First off, with the stock 265 series tire they won't rub the control arms at all. They will look set in a bit, but they won't rub the control arms. If you have a 285 series tire and try and run this wheel is where you will run into problems.
Second, the difference in backspacing isn't even 3/4". Why would you recommend such a large spacer? I would definitely not go any larger than 1.25". I don't have 4th gen 4Runner wheels but I do have 05+ Tacoma wheels and they use the same wheels on the 4Runner SR5 and the Tacoma SR5. I have 1.25" wheel spacers and I clear the upper a-arms by nearly an inch.
You are correct in that the OP (if they decide to go with spacers) should definitely get Hub-centric. Lug-centric spacers almost always result in a front end vibration.

I have first hand experience with the 265 tires rubbing on the control arm. When i first bought my 4runner, the previous owner had 05 4runner wheels on the runner. He had 1.25" non hub centric spacers on(which still sat in too far). I attempted to take them off since they had a CRAZY vibration. The wheels would not even go on the studs without the spacers. I then switched to my current setup The 2000 sport wheel, with the BFG 285 tires. Without spacers, the 285 tires were close on the control arm even with the difference in backspacing. I put the 1.25" spidertrax spacers on, and it has a good stance, BUT i have the limited flares on my truck.

Well it should somewhat depend on the tire, but I have seen a few others running 4th gen. 4Runner wheels on their 3rd gen. with 265s, no spacers, and no rubbing. I don't like how it looks, but I have yet to see someone rub other than you. As I said before I have the 05+ Tacoma wheels which have the same offset as the 4th gen. 4Runner wheels and I had them first with 265s and no spacers and they didn't rub at all. Then I added spacers, then eventually 285s. I too have the 1.25" Spidertrax wheel spacers and while I'm ok with the stance I do think it would look better with the correct backspaced wheel on it. I still maintain that there is no reason for a 2" spacer, especially if the OP doesn't have a Limited. No reason for the added stress on the wheel bearings if you don't have to.

if he just runs his 4runner with stock lift i say the 1.25" would be okay. but i have a 3" lift on my 4runner and also bought the 4th gen 17" wheels 265/65/17 and they would rub just driving around town with no spacers. i recommend 2"+ if you run those wheels with a lift or if you plan on possibly lifting.
