2006 2wd oil leak??

I have a 2006 2wd 4runner v6 with 150k miles on it. Last time I changed the oil I noticed a huge mess under the truck on the skid plate below the oil pan. I changed the oil drain plug to no avail. It seems to leak a quart every 2 weeks. It appears that the leak is starting above the oil pan on the rear of the motor, the front of the pan is dry, as is the front of the motor. I would say oil residue starts 3 inches above the pan.

this is the only thread that seems similar to what the 4runner I have is experiencing. But this thread is confusing and doesn't have a solid conclusion.

What do you guys think? Im leaning away from the oil pan gasket because as mentioned before theres wet oil above the pan. Ill be taking a closer look at the truck in a couple weekends, right now Im looking for ideas of things to look at.

pray its you pan gasket and not your rear main seal thats in the vicinity your talking about. clean and degrease to find a quart every 2 weeks should be easier to find.

Thats exactly what I'm hoping for. Really treading the repair if its the rear main seal.
