I have a 2006 Sport edition and I absolutely love it. My only complaint is that when you put the vehicle in reverse, the backup lights shine almost no light behind you to let you see where you are going. I usually have to tap the brakes to get the brake lights on so I can see. Is this my imagination, or are these lights really dim? All of the other vehicles I've had really light things up when you are in reverse.

Yup, I have to agree. The backup lights on the 4Runner aren't too bright at all. Not sure if it is because of the tinted rear window. Drop the rear window also helps. I've contemplated installing rear backup lights on the truck but haven't got around to doing it yet.

Increased output backup bulbs
In an effort to reduce night-time backing accidents, our fleet manager installed some higher-output bulbs in the backup lights. It did help illuminate the rearward area better, but we found most of the accidents were caused by folks just not paying attention.

The Super Bright 50-Watt Halogen Back-Up Bulb is 2 1/2 times brighter than a regular light bulb. Regular back-up bulbs provide only 20 watts of light, while our Super Bright 50-Watt Halogen Back-Up Bulb provides 50 watts of light.
