Hello Everybody -

I just purchased a 2006 Limited 4Runner with NAV model number E7008 and I was wondering if anyone can help me answer my questions below:

Is there a way to watch DVD's thru the NAV?

How to disable some of the phone functions or all the functions that are disabled while driving that are greyed out?

Better iPod functionality (video, Song names, etc)?

I want to thank you ahead of time and would really appreciate any advice.

Thank you,

As far as watching DVDs on the main screen, if you have the rear seat dvd player that will send the video to the NAV screen as well. If you do not, there is an aftermarket device called a lockpick that purports to allow you to hook up an external video source to the NAV screen. I have not tried it, there was another member on here that ordered one, I have not seen an update on status yet.

Lockpick

The greyed out menus can be disabled by performing an over-ride procedure.

Override

And I believe some people are using DICE adapters to connect their ipods.

DICE

The search function will help you with most of your questions, try it out.

It looks to me like the lockpick won't work for our 2006 4Runners for phone functionality. I've emailed them to see if/when it will become available. In the meantime, there's always the menu option to disable the nav lockout. This also allows full bluetooth control while vehicle is in motion.

I just installed the soundlinq SLI which allows control of iPod via steering wheel. Pretty happy with it so far but can't seem to get the file/folder view to work. It does display song info on nav screen and automatically pauses the iPod when a call comes in. Anyobody have this installed and are able to view folders?
