2006 Limited Nav System

I'm new to this so please excuse my naivety. I recently bought a 2006 Limited V8 that has the navigation system. When I bought it, I could use the tilt and open functions but now they don't work. A dealer says that if I wanted it replaced it would be about $2500 for a remanufactured one!!!! Does anyone know what the model number or MPN is for this? I'd rather not pull it out to get the details if I don't have to. Thanks for the help!

That model year, Toyota used the E7008 NAV unit. Look for it on eBay, they go from $800-1200. I have the E7009, they all pretty much plug in, but mine have different colored back lit buttons (mine light green instead of the normal 4Runner orange). Or you can look for an electronics shop to get it repaired (lots cheaper, I would think). No need to spend $2500

If you don't want the Nav anymore I think you can get a 4Runner JBL head unit instead. Might check into that. It'll be much cheaper.

You can get some pretty nice head units with navigation built into them for a lot less if you aren't worried about having the Toyota branded head unit. I suspect you could get something significantly nicer than the stock unit for about a quarter of the price.

I've been looking into Nav systems for my 07 - and $2500 is a definite ripoff. There are plenty of great systems for about $800. I've been checking out Crutchfield as I've had good luck with them in the past.

Before assuming it needs replacing determine what works, does the radio? How about the navigation assuming a disc is in there?
