Can you type in a phone number on the nav screen via bluetooth to call out on your phone?

or can you do it via voice command?

If the 2006 4Runner nav system is like the system in the RX400h, you can only type a phone number in while standing still. If you have the Verizon bluetooth phone (I have the Motorolla V710), then you can't even sync the phonebook with the nav system because Verizon doesn't allow you too. Basically, my only options are to stop or wait for that person to call you! Once a person calls you, I think you can store the number in a phonebook.

Couldn't you just dial the number on your phone & as soon as you hit send the bluetooth in the truck should pick it up? That is what my bluetooth headset does.

You could do that but I find it inconvenient to keep looking down at the phone. The whole point of having bluetooth in the car is so you don't have to take your eyes off of the road.

Do we think older 4th Gen's will get the new interface when we get the new Nav DVD with updates? I have the 03 version (being that I own and early 04) and am waiting for the 06 DVD to be released, usualy happens in November or December.

If you go into the service screen, by doing the following:

1) Hit the Menu button
2) Hit the volume buttom
3) touch top left, bottom, top left, bottom left in that order,

and you should see several buttons and one of them is phone. I haven't driven it in over a week so I'll check again tonight to make sure I didn't leave out any steps but my wife and I found it odd it was there so we assumed it's just because the actual bluetooth/phone capabilities are NOT there. The screen is with the number pad though.

edited to add the word NOT.

Push MENU Button.
Tap the VOLUME soft button.
Tap TOP LEFT of screen (where the speaker icon is),
then the BOTTOM LEFT,
then TOP LEFT again,
and finally the BOTTOM LEFT again.

You will get 'service' menu
