2006 Owners Literature packaging

Did you folks with 2006 model years get your owners literature in the same shabby way as I got it ?

I just have the thin cardboard envelope in which the cheaply printed manual and other papers were put.

Compared to that I checked out the Scion which is about $15K cheaper and it had a nicer looking black plastic/vinyl folder.

Just making sure that the dealer that I bought it from did not swindle me out of one.

Mine comes with Black vinyl folder/ organizer. The dealer was carefully went through every single items those came with the vehicle, including the original MSRP and OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES STICKERS.

Not an '05, but all I got was a bunch of manuals thrown into my glovebox, not even a carboard envelope.

I also got a lovely cardboard envelope with all of the manuals inside. The envelope had the dealer name printed on it and nothing to do with the vehicle itself.

I inspect every new Toyota that comes off the trucks at my dealership. Toyota does not supply any document holders with their vehicles. They just throw all the books and manuals in the glove box. It's up to the dealership to get document holders. We provide our customers with black vinyl pouches with velcro closures.

Don't worry, you didn't get cheated out of anything.

I forgot about those. That's called the "Preferred Owner's Portfolio". We usually get those with all of our Avalons. I doesn't cost anything on the window sticker, but it's a $6.00 charge to the invoice. Pretty neat little thing, actually.

You're not missing anything

Both of my recent Toyota's (2004 and 2005) from different dealers supplied the black vinyl carrying case with the red Toyota lettering, like the above pic. Our first (1990) Toyota came with a heavy paper envelope/pouch. My cousin got his Camry with a brown document type (letter sized) envelope. I asked his dealer if he was suppose to get a case, the dealer said no, never heard or seen such a thing. On the contrary, when I got my Camry my sales rep said it was a free gift from Toyota.

I received one of these portfolios when I took delivery of my 4Runner. During the delivery meeting, the salesperson reviewed all the documents one by one and put them in the portfolio. Then he went over a number of features that the 4Runner has.

Overall a very good delivery experience.

My dealer gaved me grey booklet with pockets for Manual and Service book. It also had dealers information and business cards of every manager in the dealership from service to General Manager.
