2006 Rear Spoiler

I'm looking to replace the spoiler on my 2006 Sport. I found a couple of places on ebay that sell them and they list the range as 03-08. Are there any differences in those years? The dealer lists this item for $800 so I want to save some money but I also want it to look like the current one. Here are the links to the two I was looking at:

I e-mailed the sellers with the part number I got from the dealer (76085-35070-d0) but they couldnt confirm that it was the same.

2006 Spoiler

Not sure if this is going to help, but I have a 2006 Limited with an aftermarket spoiler. The spoiler was on the truck when I bought it last year. Below are a couple of links, the top one is a link to a thread I had started concerning my spoiler, the bottom link is to the website that I found that shows a similar spoiler to the one I have.

Keep in mind that my spoiler does not look like a factory spoiler, but it looks good, none the less...

The top ebay link in your thread looks like a factory spoiler. I would have to assume, that if you get a spoiler, 2003 and up (4th generation T4R), that it will fit your 2006 sport.

The '03 and '04 models had a slightly different rear spoiler design than the '05 and newer models. The newer spoilers are known as the "hump" spoilers because of the way they look on top with an intention of grabbing more air to redirect from the top of the roof down the back of the vehicle.

Also, Toyota returned back to the '03 & '04 design on the Urban Runner edition. In my opinion, it looks a lot nicer than the hump design.

Thank you both for the info. So the 2006 came with the "hump" and the top link I included does look more like mine. Now I just have to make sure the photo is an accurate representation.

I am replacing the damaged factory spoiler, not just adding one. Does anyone know if there will be any mounting problems?

Granted, the older spoilers look better, but I like my "hump". Almost makes the rear wiper redundant. It does force a lot of air down the back, and pushes most water/spray off the window even in the heaviest of rain...I've also found that it lets me use the rear window as "spring time" air conditioning (crack it and the sunroof both open and you get a nice back-to-front flow through the truck) without sucking as much exhaust through the truck since the downward airflow is working against any rising exhaust gasses when at speed.

This a nice bonus wheny dealing with an SUV that produces the size of aero-wake that a T4R does, which produces a huge low pressure area directly behind the lift gate (which is how road spray gets there in the first place), which would otherwise allow exhaust gas to travel upwards toward the window and get sucked in and through if that window were open. Some does get sucked in, indeed, but not as much with the "hump" since it blows so hard downward and is also a fresh air source for the top of the window anyway - and allows more fresh air to be siphoned off and blended with the CO and whatnot that comes out of the tail pipe.

Well, mine is an '04, so it has the non-hump factory spoiler. I love to drive with my rear window down all the time in the spring/summer/fall. Sometimes I drive with all windows down, sunroof open or closed, basically any/all configurations. I don't have any issues with exhaust gases coming into the vehicle. I don't attribute that to my spoiler at all, but rather the flow of air through the vehicle.

I've also done the sunroof open rear window down thing and I too get a nice cross flow of air. Have you ever owned a 4Runner with the hump-less spoiler? If not, you might be surprised that it functions much in the same way even without the hump. In fact, I often wonder if not having a spoiler at all would make any difference as far as air flow or should I say the potential for exhaust gases to enter into the cabin.

Yes, the first link appears to be a factory original '05+ spoiler. The second link is definitley an aftermarket version. You can tell by the sleeker LED lens for the 3rd brake light.

The only thing I would find out is if the first seller is using a picture of a factory spoiler and selling an aftermarket version. You might not get what you expect if that's the case.
