I am about to put down $32k on the 06 sport. I like the sr5 rims with white letters not exposed better than the sport rims with the white out. Am I crazy?

Also is that a good price for a basic package sport?

anyone in Chicago interested in a 1990 4runner?...yes 1990!

Considering you are the first person I've ever heard mention that likes the 16" SR5 rims better than the 17" Sport Rims. Yes.

If you decide to have the SR5 wheel package on the Sport make sure the dealer rebates you the difference in the wheel packages as the sport wheels are worth more.

I have a spare set of 16" SR5s in my garage. I'll trade em for your 17" Sport Edition wheels strait up.

be careful about putting 16" rims on a sport. the SE is suppose to have bigger brake discs than on the SR5/Limited so the 16" rims may have fitment issues. That was the case for 2003-2004, not sure if that still applies to 2006 models but figured I'd say something.

yeah...crazy
upon further review the sr5 that I was comparing it to has the 17in 5 spoke wheel(none of the 4runner on the lot have the 16" that I could see). I like the look of that one better than the 17in 6 spoke...

I guess it just turns into a matter of preference since its the same siza and same AL alloy wheel right?

IMO, stay with the SE 6-spokes. They're unique and exclusive to that trim. Unlike the 17" 5-spokes, which are optional on the 2003-06 SR5s, standard on 2003-05 Limiteds, and on 2005-06 Tacoma's with the TRD Sport package. The tires are the same size, 265/65R17.

Since it's subjective, I don't like the stepped look of the spokes on the 17" 5-spoke.

I will trade you 17" Limited wheels straight up, if you want. They are in perfect condition.

koz

are the limited 4runner rims less spokes. I am a firm believer of less is more. I like the 5 spokes. Anyway this is all theoretical at this point since I don't own the truck yet.

It's going to be a sport v8 in shadow mica. I am still working on the price and may shop it around more. any comments on the price?

Five spoke.

It's a regional equipment setup. All the SR5s I've seen in Chicago has the pre-'06 Limited 17" 5 spoke rims. I haven't seen any with 16 inchers when I was living there.

I know youre now looking at 17" 5 spoke, but just so youre aware, Im pretty sure the '06 SE still has the larger discs..

The 17'' 5 spoke has grown on me, and I sometimes wonder why I went for the SE as a silver 2005 SR5 with 17's and a sunroof looks so classy. Perhaps I am just getting old and wanting something classier and understated looking rather than sporty and youthful.
I am considering a 2006 trade up - SR5, 17's, 4wd, V8, black, taupe leather, sunroof.......mmmmm new car, must have.......

On the point of leather, I know its not an option on an SE, yet on ebay many have leather, presumably aftermarket, but looks so good it could be original. Why dont they just offer black leather on the sport, I am sure it would sell.....?

If you're in Chicago, go to Carmax. Best price in the area, hands down.
I disagree... I found them to be high when shopping used Tacomas. Got a better deal horse-trading with a normal new car/used car dealer.

CARMAX has low prices. they just don't always have the inventory. I think I am going to pull the trigger on the v8 sport 4wd shadow mica for 31,900 out the door. Hopefully the dealer can find one close without putting too many miles on it for delivery.

Should they charge me delivery even if they have to get the car from Wisconsin and drive it down?

What's the best place to get one of those sweet crome bullbars?

I think I will stick with the 6 spokes...they have grown on me the more I see them
