2006 V8 gets 17 miles on highway?

How did you do that? On state highway I cruised around 72 miles/hour and got 17 miles/gal. On the local highwat I cruised around 62 and got 16 miles/gal. My 4runner is 2006 V8 SE model. So far has 94000 miles on it.

I just drive it easy. I also tend to stay at 65 MPH or under. Easy for me because I'm old . YMMV.

I drive a 2003 V8 and I get around 19.5 average according to the console (probably a bit on the high side).

I find the dash computer to be at least 2 mpg optimistic.

I live in Texas (elevation 642') and get 2-3mpg better when I travel to Colorado (5,000'+) I would assume the thick sea level air isn't helping your MPG.
