2007 4runner passenger air bag light off

Just wanted to add this to the archives as I didn't see it when I searched.

My wife and her mom came home a bit ago and my wife said the passenger air bag was "off" with her mom sitting in that seat. I went out to the 4runner and checked the connections under the seat and everything looked clean and tight. Then I noticed the seat was moved back, we usually have our rear seats folded down all the time for our dogs. The front passenger seat was crammed tight and pushing hard on the rear folded seat. I moved the seat forward and sat down and the airbag light said "on". Bingo. Thus, if you're having issues with your light and its not the connections or something similar mussed up, make sure your front seat isn't crammed back against your folded seats.

Also, on a completely different note, we have about a foot of snow around here and the 4runner is awesome!

That doesn't entirely surprise me, probably forced the seat up enough that the occupant classification system thought there wasn't enough weight in the system to need the airbag on. If there was an issue with the classification system it would have set a DTC and the SRS warning lamp would be illuminate.
