2007 4Runner Sales Literature

I received the 2007 4Runner sales literature in the mail today. No glossy pages or glossy color chips. It is sort of thin and the pictures are dark and not good quality. The literature used to be really nice. I liked how the color chips showed a good representation of actual vehicle color. Looks like because of cost they are really cutting back.
I am not even going to save the literature, I think it is that bad. In the past I always saved them and put them in the vehicle when I was ready to sell the car. The glossy literature and colors always seemed to motivate the buyer. The 2007 literature to me looks cheap and depressing. The quality is so poor, makes me wonder why Toyota would even bother producing it?

I don't need the brochure to purchase the 4Runner. In my personal experience though, having nice glossy literature on the drivers seat sure can help the sale when your ready to sell it and buy a newer model. People get really excited and it makes them feel better about buying a used car. The last time I sold a car, the sales literature I feel made the sale. The person actually wanted the brochure as a condition of the sale. Always hide your new car when people come over to look at your old car for sale. I found out the hard way it is a good way to kill a sale.

I thought the 2006 4Runner brochure was pretty weak, too.

Although the Lexus brochures are thicker and full of fluff to some degree, at least they attempt to point out some of the more unique or interesting features of the vehicle.

The 06 4Runner brochure only had a few distant exterior pictures and three interior pictures with no close-ups of the dash. Two are the side-view cutaway showing the front and back seats, and the third was a wide shot of the dash. Other than that, it just had the same feature grid as the Toyota web site.

The three big things I expect from the brochure are better shots of the interior (especially the dash and special controls), some highlights of why this vehicle is more interesting than previous model years or the competition, and good interior/exterior color chips.

Nonetheless, I kept it as I have every brochure and sticker from every new car I've purchased.

More likely than not, cost is why it gotten cheap. Now the brochures are about eight pages, where as before they were 20 or so pages in the 90s. The old Toyota brochures were awesome, many featured a cut-away view of the vehicle and lots of pictures. Also, the same information can be had on the internet, many makes don't even have comprehensive brochures. Some are just a bare bones flyer almost.

I also saved both the brochure and window sticker.

I purchased a 2007 Limited and I have no idea what the new black wood type molding is even going to look like because the brochure does not have a single picture that really shows anything. Sort of a dark out of focus interior shot, close ups of nothing. I think the 2006 had sort of a marble molding. At least they could make the Toyota website pictures better.

I've attached a picture I have of the black wood grain style trim, it's the same in the 2006. 2003-2005 had "granite" interior trim.
