For a V6 that’s a little high. However it looks like it’s in great shape. Have you checked the frame for rust? Does 4hi/4lo engage normally? Describe the thump you’re hearing/feeling?

Burned out climate control lights are a cheap and easy fix. The rear end should not be "thumping" at all, and could be a sign of worn springs/shocks especially if they're original. As mentioned above, frame rust, frozen calipers and inop 4WD accuators are known issues on the the 4th gen....check these areas carefully. Lots of 4Runners out there. Be prepared to walk if you don't get a warm fuzzy feeling from the seller or the price isn't right.
 
for reference i got a clean 2004 sr5 with 135k, $7300 cash. she has had 2 seized brakes replaced calipers in a year and i might have another one now. otherwise everything works. my AC stopped blowing cold the summer after i got it (worked when i bought it, figures). good luck with sale.

From the Carfax it looks like its been well taken care of and it appears like its been a Mall Crawler mostly. Its also looks like its been mostly a MD car so frame rust is somewhat minimal(I'm assuming). I am curious about the accident. I like to know where and what parts were replaced and if they used OEM parts or not.

I would ask $10k ON THE ROAD.
 
That's exactly my rig except mine is the shadow grey metallic. I got mine for about $14K with exact miles on it, but I'm in Seattle where prices are inflated on everything. The clunk, if it's after a hard stop when you let up on the brakes, is a well known issue that can easily be fixed with grease on the driveshaft (Driveline "bump" after a stop - Toyota 4Runner Forum - Largest 4Runner Forum). As someone else noted, the burnt out light is an easy fix and might as well replace all of them while you've got it opened up. I also agree that you should check that the 4WD engages and drives well. That's a major part of these vehicles that would suck if it wasn't working. Otherwise, it's a good looking rig and if you can get the price negotiated, would be a nice ride for a long time!
 
$13k is rather high for a base sr5 v6, but this is a car dealership & prices are always way high... or they are!

& maryland is north east coast & definitely frame rust would be a concern. i would make them lift it up to inspect the underside.

for comparison, i just bought an 08 sport v6 with the same miles for $9k from a private seller in the midwest. frame had some surface rust but was easy to remove & paint it.

bottom line, $13k is too high, plenty of other 4runners out there for less. $10k is a good price range for 06-08 v6 4runners in good shape.

& remember, prior to 06, v6's had head gasket issues that were fixed or greatly improved after late 06. 03-05's are usually quite a bit cheaper than the 06-09's that had many updates.
 
its true, was pumped on a local shadow mica, looked stunning. absolutely rotted underneath. completely brown. i called them out and the two at dealership looked at each other as if saying 'this is going to be a problem, why tf did you buy this thing?'
 
I would say this is high as well. Just got an 08 with 146,000 in excellent condition with lift, new tires and limited for $12k from a private seller.

Hi I'm new here but I picked up a 2007 SR5 4x4 with 70k, leather for $13,7 from a dealer in LI in NYC 2 months ago. It was the best car by far I had seen, zero rust, perfect paint, low miles and very well taken care of. Also had 4 new tires.

I had seen a lot of newer cars, more expensive cars that were completely beat with a lot of rust and not looked after at all.

Make sure you check the 4x4 and low ratio work properly the reason i got 4 new tires was it would not engage 4x4 as it had 3 old tires and 1 new one so they had to change them all.

can you elaborate on why the tires made it not go into 4wd?


when i bought my 08, it had terrible tires on it that were mixmatched brands & of different treads depths... the 4wd still worked fine. when you engage 4low the truck is stopped so the tires dont matter at all... & you can engage 4hi at a stop too & the tires dont matter. mine engaged 4hi while driving with the bad tires too. replaced all 4 with new tires & the 4wd works exactly the same.

what i think probably happened is that it engaged because you worked it off & on multiple times, lots of these can hang up or stick if not used frequently & most will free up after trying it numerous time. glad you got some new tires out of the deal but i doubt they were what changed the 4wd functioning. now be sure to use it a couple times a month... manual says use it for 10 miles each month to avoid sticking.
 
mine was finicky at first to get into 4low...didnt engage in driveway, front lawn, but then...beach sand (not too deep) got it and ever since no problem.

Whoever said that is probably familiar with the Subaru AWD system. Those are much more sensitive to changes in tire diameter. Our system isn't that picky. There is probably an underlying issue or the person simply didn't know how to troubleshoot and operate it

What they told me was the difference in height due to the one tire prevented it from going in 4WD, its possible it was actually the wrong size tire I never checked that but I did notice one was much newer than the others.

Whether this was the actual problem or not I don't know as i did not speak to the mechanic but thats what they told me and I got 4 new tires and the 4WD works perfectly so I did not complain!

On the test drive we tried everything to get the 4WD to work, but it just flashed never engaged. You could not even hear the actuator trying to function so I am not sure it was even trying. Since I got it i have never had a problem engaging it, I just completed a 7k roadtrip with about 2500miles in 4wd so its definitely being used now.

i understand what they "told you" but the fact is that the tires dont have anything to do with engaging 4wd when the vehicle is stopped... & 4lo & center diff lock need to be stopped & in neutral, so the tires dont matter. same for 4hi, you can engage it while stopped & tires dont matter.

while rolling, maybe tire size matters some but on 4th gen 4runners as titanium4runr mentioned, the system is not to critical about tire size like some other makes are. 2 of my tires were almost bald & one was, the other 2 were 60% tread or better & had no issues engaging 4wd... & i bought it from a soccer mom & doubt it was engaged for the 3 years she owned it.

just saying chances are that the # of times you tried it & the shop tried it before you got there is what freed up the actuator. also, on mine you can never actually hear the actuator at all, just some brief blinking then its engaged & you can kinda hear the front diff working.

again, glad its working now & that you got some new tires!
 
I like that 07 a lot. I wish it was a little closer to me...approx 2 hrs away...and I hate driving in/around DC! LOL!!!
