Hi,

I just called the dealership because i wanted to have the DRL on my Limited disabled. I was told on the 2007 model it was not possible. Are the blowing smoke up my ass?

i called toyota directly and they contacted a tech while i waited on the line. I'm not 100% sure, but they may have contacted the dealer i got it from because they asked me where i purchased the vehicle. Then then told me that it was a factory installed option that can not be turned off......

Not sure what i can do

Toyota has issued a TSB that describes how to disable the Daytime Running Lights (DRL's).

It's # EL014-06, dated December 12, 2006. It can be done to any 2003+ 4Runner with the factory DRL option. All the dealer needs to do is get out their scan tool and turn it off. No parts are required. The TSB steps through the menu options on the scan tool.

The TSB says that the service (labor) is NOT performed under warranty; be prepared for your dealer to charge you for doing it.

For those of you that have been getting grief from your dealer about doing this, you now have a TSB to point them to.

Could you provide a link to this TSB so i can print it out. The only problem i can see is that it was issued in 2006.

Has anyone with a 2007 4runner had their DRL disabled?

Thanks

Alldata has lists of titles, and then you can use the search feature here to see if the TSB itself is posted somewhere.

Made a appointment at the dealer. Got there and checked in. After 10 minutes of waiting the service advisor came in and told me that the head tech said it couldn't be done! BAM!! i whipped out the TSB a stuck it in her face. She brings it back into the sevice area and returns 5 minutes later... "we can try to do it but they don't think it will work". I say thats fine. 10 minutes later they call me into the office and let me know that i taught them something new....like a dog with their tail between their legs. They tried to charge me 49.99! i told them i didn't want to pay anything because i didn't want the option to begin with, and offered to pay $30 for their time. They agreeed and i left happy as could be .... THANKS TO FOR ALL YOUR HELPED!!!!

Just to let you know i called toyota and they also told me that the DRL could be turned off.....depressing......
