2007 NAV HU same as oemvalue unit?

Hi, just researching options prior to my purchase of a 2007 4R and I've come accross several threads about installing this unit into a pre-2007 4R.

Is the NAV unit in the 2007 4R the same unit they are selling? I've seen some people call the one on oemvalue.com a "solara" version. Are they the same thing or different than the 2007 4R model?

The nav is similar to the 4Runner one, but not the same. The one in the 4R is a E7008. I believe the only difference between the E7008 and E7009 is the amber and green backlight on the buttons, respectively.

The reason it's called the Solara nav is because it outputs a digital signal to the JBL amp. Prior to the addition of Bluetooth, the nav sold by OEM Value looked nearly identical to the current E7009, but lacked Bluetooth and the 4-disc changer. There were two versions of that nav, one had an analog output to the JBL amp referred to as the Camry nav, I think the model is E7003 and the one with the digital signal is the Solara nav. Since the analog nav came from 2004-06 Camrys, it's not no longer offered, thus only the Solara nav.

One caveat, the Solara or digital signal nav, would work best for a 4R already installed with the JBL system. Otherwise, you would need a JBL amp.

Based on the information provided by OEM value, it is a digital signal output nav. It is the Solara, possibly the same as the Sienna one too. Member J0mama had both the E7009, which he was selling and the E7008. If you can, check out navs on Sienna, Solara and the 4R (if there is one with it) on the dealer lot, they should all look the same (the four buttons along the bottom for navs with 4-disc changer and Bluetooth are smaller than the ones without). I believe the only Toyota's with Bluetooth nav are Camry, Solara, 4Runner, Sienna, Land Cruiser, Prius and upcoming Tundra. Camry, LC, Prius and upcoming Tundra navs are all integrated to the dash (vehicle specific).

I was in the same predicament you're in when getting my truck. I might be wrong, but from what I recall reading here, if you have the regular radio (non-JBL), then an analog JBL output nav is needed. If you have a JBL radio, then you need the digital output nav.

I think the 2007 Solara unit is the same as the 2007 4Runner unit (besides the backlight color as already mentioned). The 2007 Solara navigation system has the 4-CD changer, bluetooth, and new software. I don't think the bluetooth will work correctly because you will need to install a microphone in the sunglass holder.

So are you telling me that all Camarys now come with a digital JBL system. None of them have the basic factory radio setup. I need to find me a wrecked Camary rather quickly or buy me an aftermarket model. I think I'll do the later.......aftermarket models offer more in my opinion.

I don't know if the 6th gen ('07+) Camrys are digital or analog. But either way, the nav from the 6th gen Camry will not work because the 6th gen Camry nav is integrated into the dash, take a look at OEM Value, the nav has trapazoid shaped face. The nav from the 5th gen (2002-06) Camry are the same style (other than the digital or analog signal) as the Sienna, Solara, 4Runner, and current Tundra (not the upcoming '07 one). If you're going to source one out of a 5th gen Camry, get one from a '04-06. The 2002-03 had a two piece unit--seperate nav ECU, also has a tape deck behind the screen. The '04-06 Camrys had the all-in-one unit, CD and nav DVD slot behind the screen--no tape deck.
