I am looking for a used 4runner with side air bags and power cloth seats. A bizarre thing that happens on Autotrader is that the 4runners seem to have one or the other. This problem goes away in 2008, so maybe I should just look there, but in 2007 did you have to choose between one or the other? Seems odd.

2008+ they are standard on all models. Not too sure about their search. It was an option on all SE and SR5 models from 03+ and standard on limiteds I believe - whether it required leather seats im not sure.

I know what you are going through, because the side air bags were a must-have on my wife's shopping list for a vehicle.
Starting in '06 power seats are standard in Sport Edition models (they were previously optional). Power seats were always standard on the Limited models. For SR5 models - they are optional/part of certain packages.
I didn't find Autotrader helpful when trying to find a model with side airbags. It seems like the dealer didn't always mark them/list them separately, so if you are trying to sort models by that specific criteria, you will have a hard time doing so.
I ended up buying an '08 - and as already mentioned, '08 models and up the side airbags are standard across the board. However, when I searched, if I found a 4runner that I liked, I just looked at the pictures - 2 giveaways (if the side airbags are not listed by the dealer) are a gray tag on the front driver and passenger seats, just above where the curve stops (a little over halfway up the seat) and also a button on the dash to the left of the steering wheel labeled "RSCA off". There are 4 black button/button covers to the left of the steering wheel, and on models with side airbags, the "RSCA off" switch enables the driver to turn off the side airbags (for off roading situations). If you see that button - you know the 4runner has them.
One other thing I noticed... mostly for SR5 models, power seats are much more common on V8 models. Not sure if this is just how the dealer ordered the vehicles, or if they were part of a common package or what, but this is just an observation.

I think that power seats were standard on the SR5s with v8. I purchased an '07 SR5 v8 earlier this year and side air bags were a requirement for me as well. As others have said, it was very difficult to find a good candidate (for me = v8/4x4/low miles/side curtain airbags) with the side curtains as it appears very few were optioned that way, or very few people that ordered them as an option are selling their trucks. I passed on quite a few really nice trucks due to this one omission. I searched for about 3 months until I finally found mine private party off Craigslist.
The only way I found to determine if it had side curtains was to look at pictures as outlined by Ilovesnow. Many pictures won't show either of these though. I had to call about most of the cars. Some dealers even lied about it saying the car had it, only to find out it didn't after I drove to check it out. That became the first thing I looked at on each car before proceeding any further.
