2007 SR5 Sirius/Sportster5 install question

Hey guys, i have a pretty quick and easy question.

I have the 2007 base 4runner, standard double din radio with cd...and there is an auxillary input (i think)


i just purchased a Sportster 5 plug and play radio and I'm going to mount it in my car, and also purchased a FM Direct cable which would go into where the antenna plugs in to the back of the stereo.

but i just realized that if i can, the auxillary input would give me better sound quality. is that true?

also can anyone tell me what kind of cable i would need and if i can buy it locally? (radio shack)

according to the manual, the sportster 5 docking cradle audio out requires a 1/8" male stereo connector.

can anyone confirm what type i would need? Thanks in advance!

You need a 1/8" male stereo connector on both ends for your cable, and yes the sound will be better using the aux input. (It's down in your center console if you haven't found it yet)

are you sure thats for the base model stereo? i will go look to see if i see the aux connection, but i'm pretty sure there is nothing in my center console.

thanks...so the 1/8" aux input is in the center console....so i should prolly run the cable under the molding around the shifter and up into the center console and plug it right in huh?

so i take it with the satelite hooked into that i just hit the 'disc-aux' button once to go to cd, and again to go to the aux input?

you might need a in-line noise reducer because of the interference from the power source. I hooked my moms Sirius up this weekend and ended up ordering her one.

yeah....i just did a 'dry-run' and activated my sirius...basically didn't run any wires just hooked up the unit to see how it sounded through the aux.

and yep, right away i noticed the interference sound....


i still have the fm direct adapter from bestbuy unopened that i purchased prior to finding out about the aux input.

i'll look into an in-line noise reducer
