2007 SR5 vs Sports Edition - need help

Hey Guys,

Am planning to buy a 2007 4R and I have couple of questions..

1. Toyota states the ground clearance as 8.7-9.1. Is that for 2wd and 4wd or sr5 and se respectively? Does the stock SR5 / SE tire/wheel size make a diff in the ground clearance. Basically I am thinking of getting one of the two and dont want to compromise on the ground clearance.

2. I am getting a white 2007 SE 4wd with couple of small options for $30,400 without taxes in Dallas - MSRP is $34100. Is that a good price?

All help appreciated..

BTW, am all excited to get a 4R - had a wrangler before my current BMW 3 series and am ALL ready to get back to weelin!!

There is a thread started where several people posted what they paid. I don't know how to link threads or I'd help you out, but it might be a good resource for your research.

I paid $27700 before TT&L for my '06 SR5 4WD with option package C (for my area that is 17" wheels, power front seats, DBL Decker, Leather Steering Wheel & Shift Knob, Cargo Cover, Cargo Net, and floor mats) back in March.

4Runners are actually cheaper than they were 7 years ago. My '99's sticker was just north of $35k.

Should be no difference in ground clearance between SR5 and SE editions (and limited for that matter). If you are worried about ground clearance, 4WD should be your only choice.

Using the Miata Tire Calculator, the P265/70-16 wheel-tire set is basically the same overall diameter as the P265/65-17; therefore the ground clearance should be the same for all 4th gen runners.

none since the ground clearance is based on the axle/diff clearance.

It'll be the 4WD option that is going to affect the ground clearance IMO. I remember when the 2003-2005 4Runners came out and the biggest rim size they could get are 17"s. They all came with the same tire size and the only height difference was if it was 2wd or 4wd.
