2007 T4R Sub and Amp installation

Ok i wanna start off by saying that I LOVE the stock speaker set in the '07 4R SR5, but the speakers aren't loud enough for me. I am in the process of buying a 1000-watt amp and 4 subs to mount in the trunk of my car. and i have some questions:

1)how difficult is installation?

2)Can i use my current Unit that is in my car (IDK what it is called its the thing that controls the radio and the current speakers)

3)will i still be able to use the Auxilary port in the center console andall the other audio functions?

4) the Amp is a 4 channel Amp. so is there a way to route the remaining channels to the speakers that are in the door? i know that two of the four channels will be taken up by the 2 sets of subs and can i use the rest on the door speakers?

thanks yall for reading this and i know someone is gonna yell at me for not knowing what that thing described in #2 was. thanks for your time.

1. the installation is actually dependant on you and what your capable of and your knowledege of car audio and wiring, but if you have a good idea, it's not too hard.
2. you can use the factory stereo, but your speakers will remain at a stock sound, it is recommended to change out the stereo if you want the best quality sound.
3. if you leave the factory stereo, you will still be able to use the AUX, and if you change the radio, you will not.
4. use a seperate amp for Highs (door speakers) and Lows (subwoofers). Will sound a lot better

I don't mean to sound like an *******...especially since I'm new here...but do you have any idea what you're doing?

Why not just get one GOOD sub instead of 4? I can virtually guarantee you you wouldn't need louder than a 12w7...

I'd get a JL 1000/1 monoblock and a 12w7...and call it a day. You're looking at a serious amount of power there. Run a bass knob up to the front where the seat heater knobs are...

And yes, I'd upgrade the stock HU. It sucks horribly. I'm about to pick up the Pioneer AVH-p4200DVD if you want a suggestion.

And the stock speakers in runners are actually not very good at all. Probably the part of the car I'm least impressed by. Especially compared to the HarmanKardon equipped bmw i just got rid of for the runner.

not to be an ass, but its a waste to just put alot of subs witout even upgrading the doors speakers. get a good headunit, like the pioneer dex-p99rs, then buy some good speakers , focal, hertz, rainbow, hybrid audio, buy a good amp to power the speakers , focal , hertz, jl audio, audison, mcintosh, dynamat the doors inside and out, and then add subs later, might not need it since the speakers will make some bass with a proper dynamated door.

Agreed. Sound advice. Not sure how good sound isolation/rattlign is in 4runners, having only had one for about 30 hours...but I'd say dynamat is probably necessary if you want to be pushing power.

I do not have dynamat in either of my runners and they both sound good without any rattling. The one I have upgraded everything with JL and have 2 JL12w3. the other has the jbl stock setup and I left the door speakers etc and added two infinity 10's run off the amp and a new kenwood deck. very simple but sounds really good. Both trucks sound really good. I was actually impressed with the jbl speakers in the limited. a new deck will do wonders for even the stock speakers. Just get a new deck and some nice 10's or 12's, let the deck run the stock speakers and run the amp bridged to only 2 speakers.

Interesting. 4Runners must have pretty good sound matting naturally...but then again a 12w7 powered by a 1000/1 will hit harder than 2 12w3's.

fully duynamated doors will improve the sound alot, my advice is have the best vocals u can afford and then complament it with bass later on, fully dynamated door will provide some good mid bass if u have good speakers.

Ok this reply is a long time in the making. Sorry for the delay but i took a small sabbatical from this site (i know, i know, shameful...) But Just an Update on what i ended up doing:

The 4 Subs were given to me (NEver bought them in the first place..)

I ended up scrapping them cause the voice coils were blown anyways. I ended up Doing some research and bought 2 Kicker CVR124 at a buy one get one free sale at a local audio shop. So I had a Kicker ZX500.1 Hooked up to them and it ended up that the way the ohm load dropped when both speakers were wired, that amp wasn't stable. It was only stable with one speaker. So i Ended up Wiring it at a different ohm load so it would be stable (It wasn't as loud but still) Then I swapped out the stock Radio (non JBL) for a Pioneer AVIC-930BT and Have kept that since. Then I had a friend just give me a second amp and it happened to be the exact one I already had powering my subs. After some research I found out that 1 sub can handle the max power output of 1 amp. I Installed the second amp so i had 1 amp to each speaker and basically doubled the power output. (technically tripled since i had it wired at a lower ohm before.) I kept it as it was for awhile then I noticed that Amps were drawing too much power and i got a 3.5F cap to solve that. Headlights still dim a little but i cant complain. Finally during routine maintenance i saw that the system was eating the inline fuse from my batter so i Swapped that for a Higher Capacity ANL fuse that has been with me for the last 2 months and I now have Kicker door speakers planned with a kicker 4 channel amp running it. I may have to run a second battery and get a bigger alternator to power the things. This has been an almost 2 year work in progress for a fully kicker system and I'm Sticking to that. Open to suggestions.

Audio line ups: Dynamating trunk and doors, fitting an isolated battery for the system, Larger alternator, and a Sound processor to fine tune everything when done. I'm open to Suggestions so just shoot a Reply.
