2007 Tundra

i went to the international auto show last night and saw all the new rides, nothing to exciting from toyota except the new xrunner which is bad ass in red! so back to my subject title: i was talking to a toyota rep about the new tundra and he was saying that it is slated for the 2007 model year and it is gonna be a massive beast it is also gonna have different sizes to match the f150, f250, f350, so to expect many different versions, also most likely the name will be dropped. the design for the new truck will be the new direction for toyota and they are aiming for something that will be very futuristic even in 2007, im getting excited but i will not hold my breath cause two years is quite awhile

that'll be cool if it comes in different sizes. it'll be a real competitor against ford, chevy and dodge then. last weekend, a gasoline tanker broke down near a gas station. a guy in an f150 pulled over to help him. he hooked up the f150 to the front end of the trailer. my friends and i were like "no way", but he easily towed it the rest of the way to the gas station. i then wondered if the tundra can do the same.

dream truck.....

3/4 and 1 ton---Ford looks, Cummins diesel (either the 5.9 600 or the rumoured 6.7 cranking out 700 pounds of torque and 400 horsies), build by Toyota. Now that would be a killer truck.

i don't really care for the ford looks...i like the tundra look. i just want to see something that can haul as much as american trucks can, but made to last.

That's a possible scary thought. If they make it look goofy like some of the prototypes, it won't sell. Just make a truck's truck. Good styling is cool, Jetson's styling is a no-go.

I think it would be stupid to not go futuristic. The Prius and soon the 400h are doing well with their 'futuristic' interior, and I think it could go even further. I know a lot of prius "haters" that have gotten inside and said how cool they thought it was. I think this concept as well as the FJ would do very well. Just my opinion. Think of the radical designs that GM has recently came out with.....and they aren't even futuristic......just radical. Hey, I'm even down with the Jetson's! Bring on flyin cars......or as close as we can get right now.

I personally really like the truck in Koz's link above. But, it is just a proto and they'll probably tame it down a little anyway.

I'm curious what the rest of you think.

2007 - by then gas will be how much a gallon??!! I think they will probably have to do something fairly futuristic with the engine by then as well - diesel at the least and possibly by then some further iteration of what they are starting now with hybrid technology.. I think I had read somewhere there were plans to work on diesel hybrid engines as well as gas ones in the future.
