2007 Tweeter Replacement

Guys,

I've got a 2007 SE and I'm looking to get a bit more out the tweeters than stock. Prior to the new truck I had an MB Quartz component set that really hit on the high notes and the tweeter was very crisp. As I'm not up for replacing the entire door and do the amp install (I'm thinking about the exterior right now) I was thinking about replacing the stock tweets with a set of the MB Quartz, and just the tweets.

Is this a simple plug and play or do I also need to worry about the amps and freqs going to the tweeter? I believe the stock tweet only has a bass blocker installed.

When I relpaced the stock front door components on my Jeep, I relpaced both the tweeters and mid/woofer. I used the pasive crossover that came with the set and the full range signal that was passed to the woofer.

That would be my suggestion to you.

Well the whole point of the post was to see if it is possible to just replace the tweeter and not the mid range. I don't think anyone has done this yet, but wanted to get an idea or at least get the theory if its possible.

I know it's not the answer you wanted, but why don't you try it and see? If the tweeter you wish to install has a high pass filter, it should be plug and play. If it does not, ask the manufacturer or the local stereo shop what you need to solder in. It should be pretty simple!

Yeah I'm going to search eBay for a pair of MB Quartz. Maybe I'll get lucky and get something with a high pass crossover included, I'm just worried about the door space b/c I remember it being very tight in my last ride.

I'm pretty sure there won't be a problem with the power to the tweeter, but I guess I won't know until I take the door apart. And based on how freaking cold it is here I'm thinking its going to be a spring project now.

well... I'm thinking of messing with the sound system this spring as well... I'll keep you posted on what I do.
