Another JBL Speaker Replacement Question

I blew one of my front door 6x9s on the way back from Colorado last week. I've been planning on replacing the speakers for a while but this is forcing my hand. I have the JBL nav setup (8 speakers). Not planning on touching the head unit or amp at this point.

I"m thinking of going with this set of components:

CDT Audio HD-690 COM

Planning on tapping in to the tweeter input for the crossover input, then running speaker wires to the new tweeter and mid/woofer from the crossover.

Anyone see an issue with this plan? Should I bypass the tweeter high pass filter or leave in place (if that's possible).

Your call if you're trying to future proof this or just want to fix the issue.

When mine crapped out I picked up cheapish JBL speakers off crutchfield since they were close to the original ohm rating. Sound quality definitely improved over the OG speakers and crutchfield's recommended setup of adapters and mounting brackets made it a super easy job. Maybe 15m per door?

I had replaced the head unit before this, but kept the factory JBL amp.

I think for the short term to fix the problem. I will eventually upgrade the whole system (head unit/amp, rear speakers). I already did the subwoofer mod when it blew a few years ago with an aftermarket driver and amp. I can use the new 2 ohm speakers with an aftermarket 5 channel amp so I don't have to replace them twice.

Now that I'm researching it a bit there are a lot more options in headunits with ODBii capability/steering wheel controls, camera retention etc. than when I first started looking several years ago.
