I bought this truck a year ago with the intentions to drive this thing into the ground. This is my first SUV and am slightly intimidated by the complexity of maintaining the 4X4 system. I've been lurking on this forum trying to gather as much info as possible but am still left with a few questions.
-My car clicks/clunks when putting it into drive. It's louder when coming from reverse to drive than park to drive. Sounds like it comes from the front left of the vehicle. I was told my Toyota that this is normal...
-Besides the scheduled maintenance, are there anything other really big things I need to be checking out for the 100k mark? My buddies 2006 V6 had an issue with his transmission solenoid. Is that something that commonly wears out?
-I eventually want to start doing more trail riding once I move to California and then eventually onto Colorado, are there certain parts to watch when pushing the truck in these environments? Is there a way to prevent major issues before it's too late or when a problem comes, it comes?
-Lastly, I'm taking in my car tonight (7/24/13) to get brakes done. Should I have them check anything before my warranty ends? Ive got 2k miles left and plan to drive across country in 1 month for about 2020 miles. I'm taking it to the dealer mainly because I have a coupon, and want them to check the car over before it's too late. Is it a waste of money to get OEM brake pads & rotors if I intend to trail ride?
