2007 v8 - slow coolant leak behind water pump advice

So, I did the entire timing belt job about 10k miles ago, and ever since then I have had a very slow leak at the tube that enters the water pump from the back of the pump. A few questions.

1) what is the best way to tackle this leak? need to take the water pump off and re-seal the whole thing again?

2) is there a way to get at it from under the intake manifold if the manifold is removed?

3) Do I need to cry in shame that I had this leak and forever hang up my hobby level mechanical skills?

Any thoughts or advice would be very appreciated.

Likely the o -ring slipped or failed you may have to pull intake

to afford yourself access or...the water pump again......

That is the unfortunate part of doing it yourself. Nobody to go back to and say "hey this isn't right" then they fix it. If it were me, I would cry a little. Order new gaskets and o-rings. Cry a little more. Stuff arrives, and say $hit!! Lets do it again!

I did mine a month or so ago. So i just teared up a little for you as well!

Yea, that diagram spells out my doom. The pipe seats into a similar piece on the other side and not just a nice hose. Looks like I am going to pull dat water pump. Ahh well, thus is life. Thank you for the responses, and the tears shed in commiseration.

Oh man, that sucks to have to tear it down again. I’m really needing to do my timing belt this season, and dreading it! I guess the bright side for you, is that it has already been apart, so everything should come back apart pretty smoothly, plus you have the experience already.:tea:

good news is that it goes quicker the second time. My WP gasket failed after 5000 miles on my V6 because I used generic.
