You already have LSD...it's called, ATRAC (aka traction control). Toyota just reworded the function to "Auto LSD"...pure marketing.

Hey Thai, (I know you know more about this than I do) but in my humble opinion the ATRAC is nothing more than a fancy breaking system ontop of OPEN differentials

My T4R this last year has gotten stuck in snow twice (needed towing out) and once in mud (towed out by a Bronco - May God forgive me!), but I note that over small steep rocks even with the Dunlop H/Ts that are on it, it slowly continues to climb. So I know in the right situations the ATRAC works.

I want either an LSD (2nd choice) or a locker (1st choice) in my rig, but I will blow my factory warantee if I add either to my T4R, so I am trying to be sure they have not put an LSD back into the 08 T4R before I go off and spend a $1k on a upgraded diff, if I can get the same in an 08 and have a warrantee

not trying to start WW3 here, just trying to understand

Some vehicles nowadays have a seat belt reminder BEEP that will keep beeping at you and never shut up, even when you're driving offroad at just 15mph! The 4Runner's blinking light is excellent, hopefully they will not add a beep to it.

Sorry to let ya' know, but it does beep! It's not as annoying or loud of a beep as my previous car (a Honda).

Does it beep just a few times, or does it beep FOREVER? My Hona beeps FOREVER, and it is so intrusive. I can't believe Toyota would do this.

It doesn't really beep... it's more of a chime sound AND yes, unfortunately, it does continue to beep... for-ev-er! It's still not as annoying as my honda was. I always wear a seatbelt and I usually force my passengers to do so as well. I can vouche that I'll drive good, but I can't vouche for the other drivers out there.

Hi all first post here. Just picked up my '08 sport 4x4 V8. Sold my '05 Tacoma 4x4 to my pops.

Anyway, to comment on the changes to the '08s that I noticed.

First the seatbelt chime, It does not beep forever. On my truck it starts beeping for about 30 sec, then the beep becomes more rapid for about another 30 sec. then finally it gives up and stops beeping.

Second the grill, it is only slightly different. The ribs on the bumper grill are now more flush with the bumper itself whereas the previous models the ribs were slightly recessed in the bumper.

Speaking of seatbelt beep. I have the 07 Sport and I get no beep, only the blinking light when I don't put my seatbelt on right away. Should I get a beep, is something wrong, and if so could that lead to more problems in the future.

As for the seat belt beeping... I went to experiment and here's what I found:
If you do not buckle up, the dash light flashes and it beeps for about 10 seconds and then begins to beep more rapidly for about another 20 seconds or so. I just counted in my head 'cause I don't have any kind of stopwatch or timer. After that period has passed it finally stops beeping but the flash on the dashboard then becomes rapid. The flashing stayed rapid for about 30 seconds and that's when I buckled back up, so I assume it keeps on flashing rapidly.
If you buckle up, then unbuckle while in motion the light simply flashes on the dashboard and no beeping occured.
Also, from startup if I had my foot on the brake and the vehicle in drive but not moving, the light flashed but no beeping occured until I took my foot off the brake and began to move.
This was all on a '08. Hope that helps someone somehow.
 
DonnyB, thanks for the comeback. Hmmm, I just get the blinking light when not buckled up. I'll have to experiment like you did to see if it flashes more rapidly over time, I don't stay unbuckled enough to have noticed.

So did you get any of that snow that dropped recently. I'm originally from central NY, and I sure don't miss the snow, but I don't get to see my family but for a couple weeks a year now.

Nope, sadly no snow up here yet. I heard that it hit the south towns though. I'm looking forward to my first snowboarding day of the season... can't wait, plus I'll get to play with my new runner in the snow! :)

Hey Donny B from Western NY. As it snowed the last few days (at least it did here in Syracuse area) I hope you had some fun. My 2007 4WD Limited V8 was great in the white stuff.

Do you or anyone know anyone in the Syracuse area that can turn me on to the best place to get my t4r serviced and modified? Any help would be appreciated....

Unfortunately it hasn't really snowed here yet (beyond the stuff that falls but doesn't stick). It has in the southern towns I've heard and that's all. I'm North of Buffalo in North Tonawanda. Syracuse is about 2hrs or so East... I'm not sure of any places out that way where you could get your t4r serviced or modified. I'll probably just take mine to one of the local dealers, probably the one I purchased it at on Grand Island (Fuccillo) -Don

PLease don't think I'm trying to be the team mom here...but why wouldn't you wear your seatbelt?

Note to self: If offroading, don't wear seatbelt.

I have never offroaded, but once I the magical auro of my ride wears off, and she becomes just, 'my car' vs., 'my better half' I would definitely like to try. But what is the advantage of offroading with your seatbelt off? (I seriously have no idea)
