2008 4Runner vs 2007 4Runner

Should I buy new discounted 2007 style or new 2008?
I am actively looking at new 4Runners, first-time buyer...long time looker. Can anybody shed light on the pros & cons of the 2007 vs. 2008? I saw an article in this website from March 2007 regarding QA/QC issues with the 2008 version, Japanese unions, assembly platforms, etc.....need to hear feedback from known knowledge base (here) on possible pitfalls on buying 2008, or has Toyota resolved issues being circulated earlier this year and delivering a tested, confident product?

There won't be much difference at all between the '07 and '08 models with the 4Runner. They just had a minor refreshing 'facelift' for the 2006 models, and the next generation of the truck won't be out until the 2010 model year (according to others who frequent this forum).

The Toyota vehicle that is "all new" for 2008 is the Highlander. They are out now and certainly look way different than the '02 to '07 generation. As with other cars and trucks, the Highlander has grown larger, heavier and more expensive. They don't even offer a four-cylinder as the base engine anymore, just a V6.

My girlfriend has an '02 Highlander with well over 100,000 trouble-free miles, so there's nothing wrong with the current model. However, I would be looking forward to getting an '08 if I were in the market. Besides, getting an '07 now means that you are driving a car that essentially a year old when you leave the showroom. (Of course, a great price can negate some of that immediate negative vibe.)

Good luck!!

P.S. I will be selling my '05 4Runner SR5 4x4 in January when my lease expires.

I am in the same situation. Check my thread here:
http://www.toyota-4runner.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=30523

On one had, the 2007 4Runner has rebates, on the other had a 2008 will have side & curtain airbags as standard equipment.....What do to.....

If you figure it out, let me know.

The rebates seem to be perpetual, so don't worry about there being no rebate on the 2008. I can't think of any month since I bought mine where there was not a rebate. The rebates will always be bigger for an "old" model year when the "new" model year is out, but I would bet there will be a rebate on 2008 as well.
