Funny how they went to all the trouble to tape over all the emblems except the one on the steering wheel.

Is it me or is the new rear quarter/end starting to look a little too Highlander-ish? The front reminds me a little of the new Mitsu Monteros...

Me no likey. :(

As a whole I like it but between the headlights and taillights there is enough plastic to fill Anna Nicole Smith's...uh...you know whats.

The thing I want to know is why the Land Cruiser sells for $55,000-$62,000 last time I looked it's a Toyota not a Lexus. Doesn't Lexus have an SUV that is just like the Landcruiser? If Toyota is asking $60,000+ then the Lexus vesion is probably close to $70,000. I notice dealers never usually have more than one or two Land C rusiers on the lot.

The Lexus version is the LX470 (re. 4.7 liter V8). I have never seen one on the lot with an MSRP <$70K. As you noticed, neither of these are big movers so dealers (at least the one's I frequent) seldom have more than two or three in their inventory at any one time.

Why do they make all of the newer vehicles more "rounder"? I have a '97 4runner and I love the looks of it, after I graduate college I will be getting a 2002 over the newer ones. They should just KEEP the shape if it's selling well. The wrangler went unchanged for how many years?

Toyota needed to redesign the 4Runner to compete with other manufacturers that made roomier SUV's. While I liked the styling of the third generation 4Runner it was just a little small and narrow. If Toyota kept producing the third gen while other manufacturers like Nissan were producing more powerful and roomier SUV's with V8's The 4Runners sales would eventually suffer as the third generation did not offer a V8 and nor would a 3rd gen body style justify a V8. I think what drives the decision to introduce another generation of a model has more to do with what the competition is doing and not so much how well a vehicle sells. Keeping up with the competition is what drives sales.
