2008 Toyota 4Runner Navigation Question

My 4Runner, purchased used in 2011, with the CD/Radio/Navigation system apparently has not had the map updates done since it was new in 2008.

What do I have to do to update to the latest 2015 maps?

Are the latest 2015 maps available on the CD format?

Is it necessary to do every year between 2008 and 2015 to get current or can I just jump to the 2015 version?

Estimate on cost?

I think the updates are on CD's. A quick google search will yield you a few results.
The most current CD should give you all the most current data, no need to do multiple years.

Check top4runners *my items for sale section* for a reasonably priced option. Just get the latest gen 5 dvd and follow instructions on top4runners site. This will get you the latest and greatest maps and features. Works great!

Estimate? $16.99. OR, you can head to Toyota and spend $150. No problem jumping from 2009 to 2015, if memory serves, I went from 2009 to 2014. As far as 2015 is concerned, not sure. Also, they are DVDs not CD format (if that makes any sense).

Nope. You will retain all previous destinations, home, etc etc.

16.1 was just released, about 6-months late this year. Have been looking forward to it for some much needed updates. Release notes here.
This is will also most likely be the last update ever for the 5th Generation Navigation systems (4R MY's 06-09).

That's what the local dealer mentioned...I should know better than to believe them after almost 20yrs on 4R Internet Forums, haha. Looking at when the 3rd and 4th Gen disc stopped updating, I guess we can expect about three more years left. Good thing as I plan to keep this vehicle for many more years to come.

Ver 17.1 U99 discs are out for the 2010-2012 Toyota 4Runner and some early build 2013's that still utilize the DVD method of update.
