2010 4 runner brake light problem

The drivers side brake light isn't working and I have changed the bulb and also tried switching the bulb socket to the other side light assembly. It works on the passenger side and passenger side doesn't work on drivers. Guess something is messed up in the wiring on the drivers side assembly. Anyone dealt with this and have an idea where to start. All connections etc are clean.
Thanks for any help.

There have been threads on this.

Google search this: "t4r 5th gen brake light" ... or similar. Got several hits.

I had this issue on my 2011, got it certified pre-owned. Took it in multiple times due to the brake light going out, and me changing the bulbs and not fixing the issue. When I would take it in, it would magically work again, but within the next couple days it would be out again. Finally they figured it was something on the connection within the tail light assembly, and replaced both tail light assemblies under warranty. Hope that helps.

THANKS!
Gonna do some of things discussed on the searches. I have a lot better understanding of how it works now!
