2010 4Runner 3rd row seats

One of the things that I am trying to figure out is the third row seats. Not for adults but for my sons and sons friends ages 4 & 6. My parents are in their late 70's and I sometimes have to drive them around too. Granparents would always be in passenger seats or 2nd row but again the kid would go in the third row.

I don't want a third row b/c I think they are useless except in a minivan or suburban. And no one has any on the lot (But they can get them)

Wife is determined, she wants the third row seat.

Does anyone on this post have the third row seat? What are your thoughts.

We are also getting the 3rd row in our sr5...My 8 yr old had not trouble getting back there I could (5'11' 175) to some manuvering...... but longer than 45-60 minutes ride and I would not be happy... It does decrease the loading capicity and because the seats store in the floor loading height is higher and my wife is shorter 5'4 she is going to have a tougher time getting things in and out I also am going to have to figure a way for her to get the seats up since the clasps are hard for her to get to....I has thinking some type of strap added on....

I am not real happy with having alot of options added to the third row seats moon roof and power seats $1500 in unneeded items but ordering from Toyota is not easy and may not get made cannt locate what she wanted anywhere so we get what we can and thats that.........

I have 3rd row seats in my LE and have used them a few times when we're deployed away from our squadron as most of my juniors dont have a vehicle. The ones that get stuck back there are obviously the smaller ones, around 5'-5 1/2' and have no issue with it other than the floor gets dirty due to no floor mats.

It is a pain to get out of though, almost pirouetting around to get out while trying to hold on and not fall out, funny to watch but yeah a pain to actually due.

I have a similar scenario as you do with kids/parents, etc. I didn't opt for 3rd row in my T4R (that's on-order) because I have third row seating in another vehicle. We haven't used it too much but it was great when we did. I believe it'll get more use as the kids grow older.

Third row, in this size range of vehicles, is not for adults and works best for children, as you stated. If you see yourself transporting the kids and another couple (grandparents, friends, etc) you'll need the third row; especially since laws won't allow piling people on top of each other, or children in the front seat, as was common when I was kid. Another scenario is when your kids will be joined by other kids (friends, cousins, etc). The trade off is you'll lose volume in the cargo area due to the folded seat design.

As mentioned by others, you may have a longer wait for a model spec'd with that option. I'm waiting 3-4 months for a Shoreline Blue TE but finding a T4R equipped with 3rd row shouldn't take that long. Add the +/- s and see if there's value for you (and, of course, your wife...happy wife, happy life...is the ole saying). Good luck.

Thanks for all the info guys. Very helpful.

One last question though do the third row seats fold down on top of the floor or smehow fold down into the floor? If they stick up on top of the floor when folded how high are they appox.

CatVert - Nice Cougar, is it an Eliminator?

Eliminators don't come in convertible....but thats ok It has a 428CJ in it and most eliminators have a 351W or 351C in them...Here are some better pictures I have done a few convertible "clones" "tributes" "restomods" or whatever the politically correct term is...

We just ordered our T4r SR5 with the third row seats dealer went looking for them and in the KC district all have sunroofs, upgraded stereo, power seats and a few other little things which we dont need....but ordering from the factory takes more time than my wife is willing to wait.....paying 33500...
