2010 4Runner - dates for start of production & availability

"End of 4th Gen Production: 8/28/09 (Tahara)

5th Gen Production begins: 8/31/09 (Tahara)

1st VIN Visibility: 9/03/09

Ship to Dealers: 9/16/09

Wholesale/Retail Date: 9/15/09 (May be reported sold to customer)

PPO Available: 9/15/09

One per dealer initially, future availability earned based on dealer's previous 4R sales rate

Depending on dealer location, their first one on the ground will take between 7-14 days (Portland) or 28-35 days (Boston via Panama Canal)"

I hope this is right

If this is right I would think that photos should be showing up ASAP. You would think that they will want to hype this at least a bit before the actual launch of the new 4Runner.:jump:

Yea I was just going to say that. Im sure its just a matter of re-programming some Robots and some training for the interior assemblers. After you assemble Toyota trucks at the Tahara plant (which consistently gets some of the best quality ratings) it cant be that hard to learn how to do the next model.
 
Looks like we'll see the 5th gen on the West Coast within a month.

I would think that by now, we should see some official pictures, unless there's still a ton of 4th gens sitting at the docks or warehouses.

I was wondering about this - Is the inventory slowly moving? What else do yo do with inventory? I recall GM shredded some leased cars back in the 90's (not EV1...)
I was looking at Honda for a motorcycle and a local dealership is still selling brand new 2007 models...

They would have already been running preproduction models down another line, or indeed down the same line that the 4th gens are on, so the switchover is not that difficult and the assemblers would already have experience on 5th gens by now.

As of a couple weeks ago there were no '09 4Runners on the lot at the 2 dealers in my town except for 1 used (demo?) Trail Edition.
 
The toyota lot in my town has only about 20 cars on it, only 1 white 4runner - it's a '09 - and it has been there for a while. The lot is bare though and it's erie looking. Sign of the times.
 
Went dealer hopping yesterday. I found 2 09's. Both Silver. Get this 1 08' Limited V8 in white. That is a BRAND NEW 08...

I am all jittery... I can't wait for this thing to come out so that I can see it and then try to hold off from buying it till Jan-Feb.

You see I just replaced my 08 Tacoma for an 09 Corolla back in March and its still too fresh in my wife's head. Gotta give that stuff some time to simmer down.

I stopped by to visit my General Manager friend at the local Toyota dealership and he told me that he's only got eighty four units on his lot now. Normally he'd have between four to five hundred.

My 2007 V8 Sport is now worth approximately 26K up thirty percent from the beginning of the year. This documents the fact that used car and truck prices have skyrocketed.

He's only sold twenty clunkers and has not received a dime from the government yet for the rebate compensation.

The GM said he's disappointed that Toyota removed the 4.6 V8 and six speed auto tranny from the 4Runner and its due to the factory's decision to produce higher mileage vehicles.

He's going to order the one allocated 2010 V6 for me (and him) to test drive and he expects that to be delivered either by the end of 2009 or January 2010.

Toyota has drastically reduced production to keep themselves somewhat OK during the severe recession. Though Toyota has been bleeding very badly as of late.

I'm going to go in when he calls just as soon as he's got the ability via the computer through the factory to order the V6 with whatever I want on it.

The GM said that if I don't like the unit (especially the V6 engine), no problem... we could always wait till later to see if the factory will begin production of the V8 and six speed.

This is becoming a great time of the year for purchasing a vehicle.

We bought our 2005 T4R V8 SE at the end of Oct 2005. Toyota was offering $3000 off. After dealer arguing and the discount I forget how great the price was.

It would be fun to see just how good one could pick up that Limited for.

I just looked at the online inventory at one of the biggest dealers here in Ohio. Last year in August, they had 30 4Runners (of course nobody was buying anything then and inventory piled up). This year there is one (on hold, so maybe zero after this weekend). Also they list one FJ, one LandCruiser, four Tundras and one Sequoia.

That's a total of eight (8) between those five models. Wow. As they say "selection may be limited". So much for getting good deals.

"Cash for Clunkers" ends Monday evening. I wonder what the new car lots are going to be like this weekend? What about the manufacturers that are restarting production lines to meet demands?

People want the government to run healthcare?? The government underestimated the demand - what can we expect from healtcare??

I digress. I canot find a 4Runner or an FJ on the lot around here. Supply Low = Demand High?? I am excited to see what the 2010 production availability is!!!!

the toyota dealer I drive by everyday on my way to work has Zero 4runners, tundras, tacomas, sequoias or tacos....they do however, have an assload of yaris and camrys.
