2010 4runner LTD - A/C Outlet Issue/Concern

Hey Everyone,
I'm new and this is my first post. I've dug around the forums but can't seem to find anything on the specific issue I'm seeing.

I have a 2010 Toyota 4Runner LTD and I noticed something interesting. When I press the button to turn on the a/c (electrical 110) outlets in my truck, both lights come on indicating 100w/400w while in PARK. This is normal. When I press the button while driving, the GREEN 400w light comes on. Now, according to the owners manual, 400w is ONLY available when the car is in PARK or NEUTRAL. Therefore, it should NOT be coming on while driving. When I press it while driving, I expect the yellow "AMBER" light to come on. I've contacted my local Toyota dealer and I'm going in this Saturday to have this checked out. I was just curious if anyone else is seeing this? I'm just concerned I may have some sort of wierd electrical issue. I don't plan on using the outlets anymore until I get it checked out. I'm just an "OCD" type guy, and I knew it was wierd because I remember the dealer telling me that 400watts was only available when you weren't driving.

I checked mine. Both come on in park and the 400w lights up when driving. I even check the manual just to make sure it wasn't the opposite. What's going on here?? Can some others check theirs out?

I'm glad I'm not the only one seeing this. Hopefully some more people will check thier trucks and give us an idea of how wide spread this is. I'm going to the dealer Saturday and I'll post an update once I find out what they tell me.

I checked mine today, a trail edition, and it performs exactly the same way with the 400w on when driving but both on in park. I wonder if the manual is wrong.

based on this, I say there is a mistake in the manual.

I checked on my TE. When I start it and push the switch, both amber and green lights turn on. When I shift out of park, only the green remains lit.

My laptop charger pulls 120W and also confirms that shifting out of park drops the 400W plug in the center console to 100W, as indicated by the laptop switching to the battery indicator from the charging indicator.

Based on the information printed on the switch, I think they either misprinted the switch or the indicator lights are wired backwards.

I went to the Toyota dealer this morning. They did several electrical checks, and determined that I am only getting 100w while in Drive. They agree that the LED is incorrect and is likely wired incorrectly. The power system is performing as it should, it's just "misindicating". They have opened a ticket with Toyota Technical and will contact me when a fix is available.

They had another 4Runner 2010 come in for an oil change while I was there, and we observed the same issue on that one.

So, we don't need to worry about the power as it's correct. Just wanted to post an update. Looks like I found a bug, but nothing to worry about.

Mine does the same.

In PARK, both lights are illuminated. Once in drive, 400W remains green. However, the outlet in the armrest is clearly the active port, as it charges my iPhone when I'm driving.

Same with mine. It appears to work correctly. But, the indicators are wrong.

I use my iPad for turn-by-turn navigation and sometimes have required charging while driving. It has worked fine.

No worries...minor issue...it will get resolved.

My 2010 Trail behaves the same as everybody else who posted here... However, the switch on the dash is labeled "100W" and "400W" but both the armrest outlet and tailgate outlet are labled "400W". What's up with that?

Checked mine today and it appears to be working correctly. Both lights on in park. When driving and press the power button only the 120 amber light comes on. As it should.

That's just telling you the MAX power those plugs can pull, 400 watts. That's how mine are labeled as well.
